When I started getting into PS2 several years ago, I read the PS2 slims were more reliable than the fats, so, over the years I collected five PS2 slims, two of them with modbo 5.0 as I began getting into imports and now I am getting into using isos to save wear on CDs and DVDs and PS2 DVD drive. I have a couple questions on best overall methods for using ISOs.
For PS2 games, OPL is pretty simple and it is just a question of using which of the following, since I hear audio can be choppy with usb flash drive (I don't know about the NAND flash drives).
1. one of my NAND usb flash drives like Corsair GTX, which would be very convenient and hopefully faster than standard flash drive, or
2. running said usb through my RPi 3B+ somehow with ethernet cable, although I understand this prevents online network multiplayer on substitute host servers.
3. For the life of me, I can't figure out why PS2 slims still use USB 1.1 when 2.0 came out in 2000, same as first PS2 fat. I'm guessing just to keep the price competitive since, then, it was good enough for keyboards, mice, dance mats, Eye Toy and Real Play periherals.
For PS1 emulation on the PS2, I see a lot of outdated stuff in OPL/Popstarter tutorial videos, some of which has advantages over what seems to be current. PS2PSXe is straight forward but has its compatibility issues. Popstarter Options:
1. Latest OPL with Popstarter where it seems you boot a PS1 game by double clicking it in the mass file list, like an sd multicart, but no box art.
2. OPL build 1485, 10th anniversary Edition, which allows you to see it in the OPL menu like PS2 games, but you can't launch from the mass folder file list. Also, I read 1485 is an abandoned branch of the supported OPL and 1485 may have bugs or limitations fixed in latest OPL builds.
Am I missing anything that doesn't involve buying additional PS2 Fats and HDDs?
