My Switch is on 8.1.0 and I am using SX OS.
I would like to update to 9.1.0. What is the best / safest way?
Use the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX.

Is there any way to export game updates from sysMMC?
I like to keep my smaller games installed to emuMMC and I want them up to date.
Dump them with NXDumptool.

So I'm completely new to this, I had a basic question. I have managed to enter RCM mode and inject the fuse_test.bin payload which suggests my switch is hackable. I have been reading all over I need to setup and use emuMMC to avoid a ban.

My understanding is this is separate to the sysNAND and runs exclusively off the sd card. What I want to understand is if, say I want to play a game on ofw online. If I boot up the switch normally with the sd card ejected, will I be able to play online? And will there be traces of my 'unauthorised' activities left behind that could result in a ban? Or if I ensure I'm offline exclusively when using emuMMC, will I be (relatively, I know its impossible to be completely) safe in avoiding a ban and continuing online play when on SYSNAND / ofw by ejecting the sd card?

Also what kind of activities will likely result in a ban irrespective of the use of emuMMC separate to the sysNAND, so I know what to avoid (installing .nsp /.xci homebrew etc). As in is there activity that will leave traces of activity that leads to bans even when done exclusively on the emuMMC offline, when I eventually go online on the sysNAND?

Sorry for the very long post

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I have found two suggested hacking guides

"nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/"

And

"switch.homebrew.guide/"

I was curious which is better to follow considering my switch is on firmware 10.0.0

The second seems to be the recomended guide, but not updated for firmware 10.0.0 from what I can tell.

Also is there an updated incognito mode that I can use for firmware 10.0.0?
Just don't go online after using CFW or homebrew and you will be fine. You are correct in that sysMMC and emuMMC are separate entities that do not interact with each other. I also recommend using the switch.homebrew.guide

Thanks in advance for the help.

I purchased a switch that was stuck on boot loop, I took it apart, tested all capacitors - and everything checks out fine. No shorts, on any of the main chips

I changed the battery as it was unable to charge, and wouldn't boot after I drained it.

I tried multiple tutorials online, but was unable to load a new firmware onto the switch. This may be due to not knowing what exact version the switch is..I was able to enter RCM mode though, and Tegra recognized the device. Tried 10.0, 9.2, and 9.1, fusee but none work.

XAW101199~ is my serial # Supposedly it's in the grey area, 50/50 chance of it being patched or not.

My switch is still stuck on boot loop. I don't know what to do.
Its highly possible the console is patched if you were able to send payloads but the Switch didn't respond.

I remember that firmware 9+ messed up homebrew compatibility (they wouldn't recognize inputs from joycons and controllers). so needed to wait for all homebrew devs to update their homebrew.

Does firmware 10+ also have this issue again, and we have to wait for devs to update their homebrew? or does all homebrew that works on 9+ work on 10+

Back with another question!

Installing my backups works fine by copying them to my SD Card and installing using Awoo Installer from there. For convenience I have been trying for the entire day to get USB installs working but not having any luck. My USB C cable charges my switch, but the USB icon doesn't show up and it is not registering.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what I need to do?

As always thanks

Dump them with NXDumptool.
Thank you, sir.

Can that be done within emuMMC or would I have to boot cfw on sysMMC and restore a backup prior to booting?

I'm of course going to look into what's possible myself, I just figure having that answered here may help someone in the future.

Thanks again!

NXDumptool is a homebrew application. If you want a tool to dump it without using CFW, you can use the Nintendo Switch SD to NSP Dumper tool although I don't know how well it works on newer firmware versions.

Hello, and ty in advance to anyone who helps me. I read that through hacking the switch I can put a bunch of cheats into Animal Crossing: New Horizons (money cheats, items, etc.). The way I've read it, though, it seems that if I would want to go online with the game then I would need to revert to a backup NAND that was created before the CFW was installed onto the switch. Doing this, though, would revert all of the saves back to that point. I know that one could use JKSV to create backup saves, but to my understanding these saves can't be accessed again until one reinstalls the CFW. Essentially, I am wondering if it is possible to, for example, add currency to the game, and then to still have that currency be there when I go online (after restoring the NAND backup).

Also, if it's not possible, does anyone know how people are able to do it? My assumption is that they don't restore the NAND backup and risk getting banned, but I'm curious to know whether this is correct.

P.S. Sorry if any of that made me sound like a noob, I am very much a noob with this stuff

Hi all, I have a Switch (v1) running 9.2 and I use SX OS for homebrew.

If I wanted to play ACNH online, can I safely use system OS (stay 9.2) and purchase the game and still play online without being banned?

Not all homebrew works on 10.0 but due to simply not supporting the firmware. Its best to avoid updating until a game requires it.

I don't believe so.

What are the risks to using a jig like a paper clip on my switch to download hgb shop
You can't use a paperclip to download homebrew applications.

Unless you have a clean NAND backup made before running CFW/homebrew, you risk a ban by going online.

Hi i have couple of questions about incognito
I have a clean sysnand for online stuff and an emunand for offline. I have backed up my nand every update and have them multiple places.
I want to go incognito on my emunand and only on emunand. I don't want to mess my clean sys nand. What precautions should I consider? Is it safe to do? Can Big N ban me by joycon serial or game card ids I use on both my sysnand and emunand?

Getting this error on firmware 10.0.0 "panic occured while running atmosphere, title ID: 010041544D530000", really unsure of what to do, first time hacking a switch. Should I start from scratch with my SD card formatting and preparation? I tried the archive bit fixing feature on hekate. No luck.

That stops the atmosphere crash, but the switch will not boot into cfw, just boots directly into stock. I used tegraexplorer payload to format and partition the sd card for emuMMC.

I used the sd card setup suggested from the ultimate noob switch homebrew guide which Links the sdsetup site. Where I selected the default kosmos package. I added tinfoil, and sig patches (found on some forum posts here for firmware 10.0.0).

Help on how I might resolve the issue would be great

So I apologize for the extremely dumb question but when people say “you should have a clean NAND backed up before you mod” they mean the Nintendo folder- right? Cause I saved that.

I used incognito rcm to delete the series from emummc and then I put the latest version of atmosphere on the sd card. in settings it no longer appears but in atmosphere / backup the series still appears. I would like to use the app store but I don't know if incognito really worked. I apologize if I wrote wrong, I use google translate

Are they pirated or legitimate?

Both.

That's the odd part.
Nsp = game reinstalled via new sd card.
Install goes through without a problem.
Go to play game = mariokart works, katamari works... the rest say requires software download!
So I press download and it wont connect to nintendo servers. Eshop doesn't even work.

Owned games = card = works but require download (can be skipped) and download will not connect to nintendo.

Owned games = eshop = say requires software download and it wont connect to nintendo servers.

I have updated my system to 10 just now - mistake, I assumed it wouldn't connect to nintendo, but it did.

I was on 9.1 until 10 minutes ago.
Same issues remain still as above.
