just got sent home from work. Finally my employer decided that selling phones is not as important as preventing the employees loved ones from contracting the virus which is interesting. I feel like I just got fired or something, I don't like not having anything to do. Finally started up my ps4 and realizing now how loud a ps4 pro is lol

Sure your employer decided it or did he get a little pressure from the government?
Whatever the case, I hope my employer also gets the memo.

I am quite annoyed, I don't have any more soap home, I am washing my hands with shampoo because they have rid the stores out of soap... and don't get me started with the toilet paper.

PS: this very much (translation overimposed)
View attachment 199996
I bought a bunch of bars of soap on sale from Amazon like last month, they're still in the wrapper. Nobody in my family uses bars of soap, and prefer body wash and pump soap. I only bought it because it was on sale, and ya never know.

I don't even understand why people are raid buying toilet paper. I don't understand the bottle water either. The tap water here is just fine, there isn't a fucking Hurricane coming. I doubt the water is going to be shut off. In fact, they suspended water, gas, electric shut offs for a few more months. If you miss a payment, they won't even give you a late fee.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Oh, and the amount of people with the virus has doubled since yesterday in my city. I had a feeling that would happen, after I seen a bunch of kids playing in a playground with their parents, like nothing is going on.

TBH I was considering complaining to the labour board or something. I dunno who even I would have to call but yeah that saved me the trouble

I hope more employers are forced to close cuz none of them will care as long as they can make a dollar

Why should anything change? Why are we closing everything? Why are people ok with this? Why social distance? Why close anything at all? GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH!

Here everything is quarantined, well you can go to shops to buy food and medicine only, certainly go out for walks, but not in groups. As many people are possibly work from home, me including. Honestly, not sharing the panic quite present here, cause the media sure bombard people with negative articles about corona, instilling fear and paranoia and such. Gotta hate the media

Why should anything change?
Because we're experiencing a highly infectious virus that can easily wipe out a non-negligible portion of our population.
Why are we closing everything?
To minimize gathering of people in an effort to reduce the spread and keep hospitals from being overloaded with cases.
Why are people ok with this?
See point 1.
Why social distance? Why close anything at all?
See point 2.
GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH!
If your liberty risks infecting and/or spreading the virus to those that would succumb to it or spread it further, then fuck your liberty.
You and everyone else need to do their part to not spread this thing, you can afford to be bored for a while.

The irony right now is that I am dealing with a completely different flu that is fucking up my lungs and stomach. So now I am just staying inside and playing Animal Crossing all day.

Same here, me and my son had the flu before everything went crazy and being cooped up is making recovery take forever.

On top of that with everything closing, I now have to suddenly become a teacher and learn how to home school :!:

Sometimes i think the world would be better off if we lined up certain people and waisted a bullet.

put a lot of my education on hold right now which is super aggravating and i recently in the past year or so came away a lot more from the games and stuff and focused more on what my life offline is like and uh now this is just a huge hold up to it hahahahah.
this was a bit inevitable anyway since my dad came back from vegas not long before the pandemic properly affected the uk and had to go through LA airport a week before people were being sent home due to corona. he came down with a serious outbreak of flu all of a sudden and he's never been like that before at one point it seemed worse than the time my mum had pneumonia. classic 111 response 'it's fine he probably doesn't have corona' (bear in mind this was before it properly kicked off and they probably had a lot of people worry calling)
just hope people can see the positives in that it's a chance for new hobbies as well as focusing on yourself for a period of time if you have that luxury of staying at home.
(or just come back to your old habits like i've done clearly)

I'm more than a little concerned about what will happen if this lasts long enough that people start to run out of money and hunger sets in. Is it gonna become dangerous to walk to your car with a bag of groceries? Are there going to be more break-ins? It sounds far-fetched but so did most of what's happening right now..

Unfortunately, I work in an industry that has to stay open during the pandemic. So I wash my hands regularly, sanitize everything I regularly touch, and just do my best to keep a safe distance from others.

I am still working. My employer split up our shifts so one week I got in a 6am and the next I go in at 9am. There is still overlap but at least they are doing something. I can't really work from home and we aren't going to be shut down due to me working with medical robotics.

Two of my friends (who don't work with me) are now jobless. The one pulled land titles for oil and gas companies so they can go and drill. But with the county court houses being closed to the public... well you see the problem. The other would go door to door securing donations for PBS. Again... you can see why he isn't working anymore. I think technically the he was let go, but when things pick up they might hire him again? Everything is up in the air right now. Well except the covid. Luckily that isn't airborne.

I've been working from home for the last fortnight. When not working, I've been working on getting supplies for the family. Money is a tighter now as my dad has left his job as a chef as he's in his late 60s with high blood pressure so would be as risk. Things aren't helped by the fact my mother is very wasteful for things like washing up liquid, handwash and tissue, she doesn't seem to understand the difficulty in getting things coupled with the cost of it. It's really exposing how wasteful and expensive she is. It's hard not to feel resentful to her in the current circumstances. And an added bout of difficulty is that my parents don't use direct debits or debit cards, they lived on cash which means we can't electronically access my dad's pension money, This means the payment of the bills and essentials is all on me. I've been saving a nest egg over the years so should be fine for the next couple of months. I am incredibly lucky to be working in the public sector as I'm still getting in full. It is a generally a bit shitty particularly with pay but it has been a lifesaver in terms of money and day to day structure.

As far as I am concerned there is nothing to deal with, and nothing to concern myself with at this point. I am in the middle of the countryside and have a nice garden to sit in if I somehow get bored of inside (has not happened in the decades up to now) or the workshops.

I field the odd call and email like I would normally do but was planning on taking this part of the year off to mess around for a while anyway.

Slightly annoying that the places I like to spend my fun stuff money closed down, especially as they were otherwise late back (either in general or because wet spring), but it is not like I don't have dozens of books I have yet to read (and some I could stand to reread and maybe do some more of the exercises in) and things to pull apart or fix. Not to mention that new lathe did rather give that fund a kicking so some breathing room there for it is not bad either.

Kind of amusing to see people larping as either surgeons or builders putting up plasterboard or wrecking out a joint when I go shopping. Said shopping is a rather orderly affair as well compared to usual where I have to worry about being run over by a little old lady and spot my window to move in.
Indeed going shopping only every 10 days or so is probably the most annoying as I had run low on olive oil the other week when it came time to make my cake and had to use vegetable oil (rapeseed oil) with only 50ml or so of olive oil instead of the usual 250ml of straight olive oil. Tasted fine in the end though, if just slightly different (olive oil is still the way there).
