Doesn't seem that anything new is being worked on. Emulators aren't being updated anymore and it seems like everyone has moved to switch or other systems. Is it safe to say the Wii U scene is dead?
Sorta, don't see many updates on github anymore so it is safe to say it is at the moment. But we've seen dead systems when it gets to that retro nostalgia type that people flock back to it and you suddenly see new stuff coming back out for it. Definately we'll see that happening with the Wii U once in the far far future because it is so obscure and not a lot has been developed for it despite being cracked wide open sorta. Still has a lot of potential but for the moment it isDoesn't seem that anything new is being worked on. As a homebrew dev I can assure you there are things being worked on. I have Notepadd++ with C and C++ source files as well as a debugging connection to my Wii U open while we speak.Doesn't seem that anything new is being worked on.
So you're ignoring https://gbatemp.net/threads/latest-emulator-updates.553494/ ?Emulators aren't being updated anymore
There's quite a lot activity in the GBAtemp Wii U subforums as well as homebrew Discord. Are you ignoring that, too?and it seems like everyone has moved to switch or other systems.
Definitely not.Is it safe to say the Wii U scene is dead?
I'm just guessing here but in a situation where you need a NAND backup the NAND is corrupted, right? So the console might not be able to boot, so no homebrew access possible.I'm upset than nobody has given us NAND restoration on the Wii U without hardmods.
I get that it's weird and frustrating for people who are still actively involved in the scene to read these posts. But I feel like it's only natural for a community to also discuss if there are still any active developments (which is basically the underlying question here).Hello.
Why have People always the Desire to say something is dead ?
Nothing is dead and most notably Homebrew on Video Game Devices not.
Is the Switch Homebrew dead, when in the next 32 Minutes after the last official Update nobody released a new updated Custom Firmware or File Manager ? I think the Switch has not only "positive" Influence on todays Gamers...
If you do not have interest in the Wii U,sell it and go to the next Console please. But please stop this senseless Asking.
You will get NO Confirmation from any Developer.
Thank you.
Not trying to sound mean, but as long as I can use my gamepad in wii mode... for everything... not just injected apps, then I'll e happy.
I assume you mean playing all Wii games with game pad that will probably never happen but there is or was a guy working on playing wiimote games with a gamecube controller.....for original Wii. Haven't heard anything about it in months though and who knows if it will ever come to Wii U.
Well not "ALL" games, but I mean just being able to use the vwii menu with gamepad. Least that way, all wii homebrew would work with it and don't need to be patched/updated to do so. Also maybe a way to make it possible to use gamecube controllers on vwii. So far it only works with nintendon't and smash bros on wii u. Some wii games allow for gamecube controls. (Playing sonic riders zero gravity with a wii mote motion controls? No thanks, gamecube controller please.)I assume you mean playing all Wii games with game pad that will probably never happen but there is or was a guy working on playing wiimote games with a gamecube controller.....for original Wii. I am aware this is how it is. Though doesn't hurt to hope right? Not like people haven't shattered expectations before. That'll never be how it works though. Each Wii homebrew has to be patched individually to be playable with the Gamepad. Hell, there's a version of the vWii Homebrew Channel you can install with Gamepad support, but as soon as you launch a homebrew title in that way that never had Gamepad support, you lose the ability to continue playing the homebrew with the Gamepad.

Well that's something I found on my wii the other day while I was trying different sd cards. Had one setup for homebrew from years ago that I found. That would be nice to have gamepad support for.Super Mario War
