In Animal Crossing: New Horizons there is an item called iron nuggets. The only way I've found to get these is to hit rocks with a flimsy axe up to 7 times once a day, and they seem to have around a 20% drop rate. I haven't been using them and have instead been saving them, but I don't have the 30 required to progress in the story yet. Nook Mile tickets may yield a few of these, but without a ladder some parts of the islands are inaccessible to me, therefore spending miles to get tickets at the moment is inefficient. I know you can shake any tree infinitely to get more tree branches; is there some infinite way to get iron nuggets as well? Early copies help me out.

Hey, I just started and I am not as far as you are in the game, so sorry I can not help you.
But I have a question.
I noticed, that after I restarted the game, after played some other game, the talking sound of all animals are gone, including Nook.
Kinda odd bug... Do you have the same bug?

Also, I already bought new recipe book for 3000 Nook Miles, there is the advanced shovel, but I am missing the recipe for the Flimsy Shovel, do I get it the next day?

Start your own thread, do not hijack others.

To the OP, I was wondering how to get them. Thanks for the tip.

Maybe you could use the planet ticket thing to go to a different island? (I think thats how it works) then you could hit some rocks there, even break them, assuming that gives you more resources.

I was hoping to avoid buying more nook tickets since it's inefficient at the moment, but it seems to be unavoidable right now I guess? Out of curiosity, does anyone know when I unlock the ladder so I can get the most out of those islands?

Use the shovel (without energy) in quick succession on rocks and they will spit up a bunch. You can travel to other islands and hit more rocks.
The shovel is unlocked after meeting certain criteria that relates in some manner to digging.

So I've figured out a few things since then. For one, I had accidentally broken many of my rocks without realizing I could do so and that it would be permanent, and not wanting to be inefficient with my nook miles prevented me from being able to get more iron nuggets since I didn't want to go to resource islands without the ladder. That coupled with the low ish drop rate of iron nuggets and poor luck saw that I didn't have enough for the bundle.

So I finished it some time yesterday, and here's what I found out. Once a day a new rock will spawn on your island if there are fewer than 5 on it. (I think.) So if a rock spawns right in front of your house (seriously, they keep doing that) you can just mine it out 7 times, eat a piece of fruit and break it. The next day there'll be a new one somewhere else. Be careful about breaking multiple a day however, because it seems to only be able to spawn one new rock a day. I'm not sure if time traveling multiple days will spawn multiple rocks; I haven't tried that as I've only been moving forward one day at a time to get more things to do.

Ladder Spoiler
Also, you get the ladder, for me, about 30 something hours in. You have to finish that bundle, move forward a day, build one bridge with some resources, wait another day, then you get three new tents to reserve for villagers. Once you place the first one, Nook will call you and give you the DIY recipe for a Ladder, which only costs a few pieces of each wood. At this point every part of those resource islands is available to you for harvesting purposes. Waiting that long seems inefficient however, since by that point I had somewhere around 30K+ nook miles that I didn't have anything to buy with. I'd recommend using them when you have them if you already have the upgrades you want, so you can move on to the next step with your island.

So now I have enough iron nuggets to make better tools with and not run out, which is good, but if you're not going to time travel at all I'd recommend not making more than one set per day to avoid using all your nuggets.

First advice is to not break your rocks, they're useful.

The game is expecting you to take some days to complete the task, if you can't the only efficient way of getting them is by visitng other islands, buying nook tickets or connecting to a friend's.

If you're playing offline because you didn't buy the game (I know that's what you're doing), you can only visit islands by paying. You can also just time travel and some rocks will come back.

Very close. Nook will give it to you when he gives you tents to invite more villagers, exactly after that.
