Does this improve compatibility maybe? like with crash twinsanity?
Not at all
If you use a BC phat PS3 it lowers the compatibility because it uses netemu (software emulation) instead of hardware emulation
If you use a non-BC PS3 (later phats, all slims and super slims) it mantains the same compatibility

actually, the ps3 has 3 ps2 emulator files. ps2_netemu is for ps2 classics and for non-bc systems. the other two are for full bc (ps2_emu) and semi-bc (ps2_gxemu). ps2_netemu was ps2_softemu before, and it's how a lot of those config files were found since it's a treasure trove of them. I'm not sure when they switched to netemu though. it was softemu on 3.55 and possibly later. this emulator was even in as far back as 2.76 (decrypted on my computer). I tried it on 3.55 with cobra, and it was pretty unstable as it was incomplete. I think sony was looking for an all software bc. then, they came up with netemu and forced you to pay for limited bc.

Here's a pack of images, so that you don't need to warez a 100+ MB original Classic just to rip them and the folder structure off it :)
Partial credit to someone I don't remember of psx-scene for some of the PS1 images (though I personally prefer using icon0 only)

@Ominous66521 good for ps2classics-gui too :)

One of the reasons to make ps2,ps1 pkg files is that it allows for adding .AT3 sound files of whatever you want, your own game icon or animated icon, a custom background image that can display on the ps3's xmb when hovering over the pkg installed game and can be used to display box art like i do. Can't do any of that with webman, just display a small little image thats it

I understand most of this guide, but I don't get the option in multiMan to install my PS2 game as a package. It just copies the iso over to my hdd, which would be fine if it weren't for the fact iso issues are why I want to save the game as a PS2 Classic. Is there no way to get the saves elsewhere, because I can encrypt the iso just fine.
EDIT: nvm, had to change mmCM into MultiMan. Now it works.

Yes, works on both CFW and HFW with Hen, works similar to the Popsloader PSX2EBOOT tool for PSP.

You might be having the same issue I had at first. If it asks to append the limg segment just allow it by default and when it saves the ISO.BIN.ENC file it tends to hiccup naming it. You can either rename the output file to ISO.BIN.ENC if you know where it is, or clear the file name when saving and just type "ISO".

Hello, first of all thanks for the tutorial. It worked for the most part where others had failed. However after launching any of the games, My controller disconnects as it should and I get a blackscreen, but after some time the TV shows a "No signal" message. I've left it for half an hour already on multiple games and it didn't fix itself. I can turn on the controller again but I hear no audio. The PS3 doesn't seem to be frozen, as I can turn it off at no time (and it automatically reboots btw). My TV supports up to 1920x1080 60Hz. I tried with a modern TV but the results were the same. Now here's the funny thing: I once managed to play PS2 games in this same PS3 console and in the same TV, back in 2018 and it was flawless, first tut worked and never got these problems with any games. I believe things went south after I changed my IDPS to play online as my system was initially banned, and started to have some code errors when launching the PS2 games, related to signing I believe. Anyway I have reinstalled all the homebrew apps already, but I haven't made any resets in the console yet. After some search I read that resetting might fix the issue, but I'll leave that for last. As it may look, I made this account just to solve this problem so thanks in advance! :)

UPDATE1: I tried some old and new working HDMI cables but none seem to change the result, so the problem is definitely not the cabling.
UPDATE2: other tutorials also led me to this same situation, tried encrypting with aldostools and with multiman and output was the same.
UPDATE3: forgot to describe my system (lol), I'm running a 120GB Slim CFW Rogero 4.55 Spoofed to 4.86.
