I'm planning on giving my CFW switch away, but want all my information and data removed. I only installed CFW and used checkpoint on the switch, do i need to a SYSNAND restore? or all I need to do is factory reset the switch so that it's like "new"?

What are the steps to make this switch "as clean and new as possible?"
Side note: it did generate 1 error log since i used the CFW

A few points:

1. If you do a nand restore to a point before you went online, then the person you give it to will most likely experience a ban because the logs wont match with what Nintendo has online. If you've never been online with the switch then you're fine.

2. If you do a nand restore to a lower firmware then you will have to use a custom bootloader to boot into OFW because of fuse mismatch. After that perform a normal online update and it will be back to normal.

3. You cannot do a full nand restore unless you also backed up boot0 and boot1 at the time you backed up the full nand.

4. If you dont have these three files and you've never been online with the switch you can still build a clean nand using choidejour PC version and you can get it back to original state.

1) The Nintendo switch was logged onto my Nintendo Network ID and has been online before I did the Hekate bootlauncher. I did a full Nand backup using the bootlauncher, then transferred the files to my PC.

2) I used the custom firmware when my switch was on 9.0.1, so I wouldn't need to do downgrade?

3) I should have those files if i backed up my EMCC and GPP, prior to CFW?

4) So can I get my nintendo switch back to the original state? and have the new owner not experience a ban?

What would happen, if i just factory resetted my switch?

1. The question is, have you been online at all since running CFW? If yes then forget about going online with it in a clean state.

3. I dont know what you backed up but the specific files you need to restore are your raw nand (the big file) and boot0 and boot1.

Factory reset wont prevent a ban.

1) nope never been online with CFW. Left it on airplane mode prior to switching to CFW and only used local communication

Did you check to see if you have boot0 and boot1 files backed up? They're not part of any other backup. The good news is if you're not changing firmware versions you only need the raw nand and not the boot files.

How do i get back to the CFW screen cause when i set it up i put it on autoboot.
Hold Vol- when you load Hekate and it will enter the menu.

And if he doesn't have them he can still make them with ChoiDujour. Course it makes things much easier if he does.

Why do you care so much? Hehe he/she/it doesn't care.

In the opening post he clearly stated he want the switch clean as possible, like previously stated he can only make the NAND clean if he restore his nand backup prior to CFW, since he wants to give it to someone else, clearly you can't read.

True . However, I told him to keep it instead.
