So how much is GBATemp being payed to run ads for this Chinese company? :/
I mean, honestly does it matter? they aren't terrible computers, and they are just one block out of the front page. I understand if you don't like it, but what's wrong with getting a sponsered ad? they aren't shoving it in your face any where you go, it's just front page bub

I don't have a huge problem with sponsored ads, (although they do seem a bit tacky) I just don't like seeing people supporting the Chinese in their bid to dominate high-tech. As I said in the previous XIDU-related post, while avoiding Chinese manufacturing is downright impossible, avoiding Chinese-designed products is far more doable. Although I'm sure I sound like a curmudgeon, I feel that if I say nothing then I'm just accepting that future as inevitable.

I do not think that Chinese products are worse than other ones. Everyone could spy you. Look what Google does.

The only thing that confuses me is that the sponsoring has nothing to do with GBAtemp, except that you could use this devices for preparing a homebrew SD card for 3DS or so.

Who said anything about spying? While I'm sure that the Chinese would be far happier than Google to make use of any trade secrets you might happen to possess, I don't think that they're using mass-produced laptops to spy. At least I hope not.

I don't like this sponsoring thing of Chinese companies either, for the moment that is as current events go.

But going by what you said, what about the USA? China is obviously very autocratic and such that it is scary to think about their domination, but what about the USA and supporting their products? The world knows about the USA and how it causes many wars in other countries and could be considered far more cunning, masterminded, and cruel if you choose to think in that route. In that sense I don't see any difference between a shift in the dominant country, so pointing fingers at China seems stupid imo. To me I see it as the USA not being as conspicuous as China, that's all.

In any case, being a Chinese I absolutely hate the Chinese government and I do fully support the hate directed towards them as long as it is only for the government, the people are innocent and brainwashed there, it cannot be helped atm. You would do absolutely nothing by not buying from a Chinese company, even if you create a big enough following, the world trades with China enough. If you see a good product made there, just get it and leave the issues to the higher ups. All you can do is just express your disgust, cause if you think about it, you're not going to change this whole situation by some boycott, so just wait for those future events to unfold while you make sure people don't get the wrong idea about the government.

Honestly, I don't really disagree with you. I think that there are similarly valid reasons one might boycott US products over. I also agree that my actions alone aren't enough to change anything. Hence my post: I can't change anything myself, but if I can help convince people and they act too, then perhaps a difference can be made. As for the shift in the dominant country, I both agree and disagree. As an American, I obviously benefit from American power and comparatively suffer from Chinese power, so I have a vested interest in the global balance of power. Beyond that, China has shown a greater willingness to push ahead with untested technology regardless of the potential consequences. As someone who is highly interested in technology, that greatly worries me. On the other hand, your point about the wars is completely true. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that neutrality will be maintainable in the coming decades. The only choice that remains to us is which of the two devils is the lesser.

I don't care that its a chinese company sponsorship, but the fact that this company "XIDU" doesn't put any care into their website or proof read anything they post. It's hard to believe they are a competent company when their website's content is written so poorly. What other parts of their operation is run so carelessly?

I pointed it out last time but it's still there.
ex.
This computer says it has a 44 (FORTY FOUR) GHz CPU.
https://xidustore.com/products/xidu-philbook-touchscreen-2-in-1-laptop

Researching ALL of the intel atom cpus (because, again, the website lacks any detailed info to narrow it down) I can only assume this CPU is actually the z8300 or z8350 at 1.44GHz.

Not interested in a PC made after 2011 (especially a macbook pro ripoff) nor in buying a computer online, but this is how a honest advertisement should be - no javashit-only ad networks, clearly marked as such, and, well, at least tangentially related to the website
