I've finally figured out the solutions to all my partitioning problems and seem to have successfully installed an emuMMC for hacking shenanigans.
I'm following this post by GRoberts explaining how he installed his emuMMC and upgraded it.
Right now I've got several questions.
1) GRoberts says: 'Once in CFW (Emunand) you need to make sure you are still on 90DNS, or airplane mode.' I checked and my primary/secondary DNS are 163.172.181.170 / 163.172.141.219, as listed in noah's unfinished guide. Is this good enough to ensure my safety from Nintendo banhammer / supernag and whatnot? I've set up Airplane Mode just in case.
Planning ahead, when I set everything up and start installing and playing backups, should I remain offline while on emunand? How would I go about updating games and getting things like DLC installed?
2) GRoberts reports using his Crash Team Racing cartidge (I haven't got one sadly) to go from 4.1.0 to 7.1.0 and then using choidujournx to upgrade CFW to the latest. Before I do what he says in the post I linked, I really have to know: is it totally okay to jump straight from 4.1.0 to 8.whatever? Is using a cartridge specially for this necessary?
I've also heard alarming stories about burning fuse problems. Will I burn any fuses whilst upgrading and if yes, what consequences might that have later?
3) Finally, I'm really nervous not to mess anything up so if there's anything I need to know to do / not to do, then I'd really appreciate if somebody could tell me what it is.
My Hekate is still 5.0.0 and I don't understand how to update that, if that's needed (have all the recentest files from sdsetup, but that doesn't seem to change the version of Hekate specifically). Is this fine (for now), or does this carry the added risk of enabling autoRCM or something of the sort down the road?
Many thanks for your assistance once again.
