The Original DOOM trilogy has quietly launched on Switch/PS4/XB1

Launching with little fanfare are the first three DOOM games, in order to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary. Bethesda has brought DOOM, DOOM II, and DOOM 3 to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. They're all currently available to buy digitally, with the first two games costing $4.99, while 3 is priced at $9.99. The first two games are also on both iOS and Android, if you enjoy your classic games on the go.

Celebrate Doom’s 25th anniversary with the re-release of the original Doom (1993). First released in 1993, Doom introduced millions of gamers to the fast-paced, white-knuckle, demon-slaying action the franchise is known for.

Experience the classic demon-blasting fun that popularized the genre home or on-the-go.

Doom (1993) includes:

  • The expansion, Episode IV: Thy Flesh Consumed, with nine additional action-packed levels
  • Local four-player deathmatch
  • Local four-player co-op
Doom II
Celebrate Doom‘s 25th anniversary with the re-release of Doom II. This beloved sequel to the groundbreaking Doom (1993) gave players the brutal Super Shotgun to bear against deadlier demons, and the infamous boss, the Icon of Sin.

Battle the demon hordes at home or on-the-go on Nintendo Switch.

The re-release of Doom II includes:

  • The Master Levels, 20 additional levels made by the community and supervised by the developers
  • Local four-player multiplayer
  • Local four-player co-op
To save Earth, you must descend into the depths of hell, survive demon hordes, and take part in the fiercest battle ever.

Doom 3
Celebrate Doom‘s 25th anniversary with the release of Doom 3, available for the first time on Nintendo consoles.

In this critically acclaimed action-horror re-telling of the original Doom, players must battle their way through a demon-infested facility before entering the abyss to battle Hell’s mightiest warrior—and put an end to the invasion.

Doom 3 includes the Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Missions expansion packs.

The 25 year anniversary was over half a year ago though. Are they just gonna pretend that they're on time?

I wonder what took em so long. It only took MVG like 45 minutes to port the game himself lol
Using an open source engine, which likely has licenses attached to it that prevents commercial use. Some of the open source engines are already cross platform, there is no porting necessary really, all that's needed is to compile it using a cross compiler for the right platform, and maybe change some controls.

It was already "celebrated" during the actual anniversary, but it's still being "celebrated" because Quakecon is going on right now. It's still close enough that it really doesn't matter.

Finally something worth playing that isn't fire emblem yay!
Huge fan of the DOOM 2016 reboot and got addicted to it quick
Not sure how well the older doom games hold up to this day especially with the doom 3 having received some negative reception in the past.
Either way it'd be worth to check em out. Good thing the switch isn't left behind on these ones.

Various reports coming in that an Internet connection is required to play Doom 1 and 2 (maybe 3 as well) and on top of that an account on Bethesda.net - verify this before buying.
