So I bought a non powering switch off ebay to have a mess, to my happiness it was just stuck in rcm mode so now fully charged it works great.
It is on 3.0.1 , I have done a nand back up just in case i have issues but how can I see what has been installed on it as in does it already have cfw installed? In sxos you can access homebrew etc through holding R and clicking on album, any shortcuts like this in the other versions?
There is no sd card so this might have helped?

I have only used sxos pro since launch so will be installing atmosphere on this but need to do some reading first as unsure on this, if I reinstall this nand back up will it delete it to like factory settings, ie remove rcm so I can start a fresh?

Once this is complete looking at doing an emmc upgrade too but want to get back to a clean(ish) start to begin with.

thanks

Umm of course you know CFW is not permanent right? As soon as you power off the Switch it's gone and has to be reinstalled every time you turn it on.

Doesn't really matter as CFW ain't permanent, once you shut it off you have to reload the payload, it will says Atmosphere or ReiNX if you are running that, SX OS you would have to open up the album.

I think what he's curious about, is (since you CFW isn't permanent) is if CFW has been ran before on the switch, at least that would be my question.

However honestly being stuck in AutoRCM (if you're looking for a clean switch) is probably not a good sign and who knows what the previous owner did with said switch, you could always ask.

Good chance it is not clean anyway if no clean nand was restore or given by the seller, unless the wrong fuse/firmware setup was used that why it won't boot, nothing to do autorcm if he pushed a payload correctly.

Read his post again. He said it was stuck in RCM but then after fully charged it works great.

It is clear to me he thinks CFW is permanent and it's not.

Considering he's used SX OS previously I would think he would know, maybe I'm wrong but SX OS is the same and has to be injected via RCM at every boot. Again I could be wrong.

That was just me cut/copying the thread title. As usual you have no substance to your post so, useless poster.

As usual you are a hostile person, with sarcastic undertones, even replying to the OP you started sarcastically and assuming that the OP knows everything, I wonder why you think people are just here to argue, are they here to argue because they want to argue or are they here to argue because you are being hostile right off the bat.

Also since you want substance:
The OP stated in his post that he was using SX OS on a daily basis, SX OS is a custom firmware that needs to be injected after every boot, now its possible that OP didn't realize this is standard procedure for all CFW, but my answer was going on what I gathered not from the thread title (which you seem to be well versed in) but the actual contents of the post (which you seem to be ignoring entirely).

Either way, if you act hostile expect hostility back. Don't go around acting like you have been and expect everyone to brush it off, some will, some won't.

Thanks.. I think..
Just to be clear rcm is turned on so as I don't have a loader I need to plug into my laptop each time to turn on if I fully shut it down so I was interested to see what cfw has been run to get it here.
If I can not find out I'm hoping a full nand restore will clear it and let me start again?

Yes if you power off the switch entirely you will need to inject a payload. However I don't think its possible to tell what has been done to the switch that put it in RCM nor what CFW has been run previously (if thats what you are asking).

If you just want to disable AutoRCM you would need to inject something like Hekate OR if you have the SX OS dongle you can boot in to that and disable AutoRCM as well.

If you want a brand new NAND you'd either need a NAND backup or you would need to rebuilt it.

Well it depends on what cfw payload you inject everytime it shut off, if you really want to find out what firmware it is one, you can make a nand backup and use firnware version inspector, but there is no way to check if the NAND backup is clean or not, only way to tell is that the seller gave one or restored it before shipping out to you.

@lpoolm if you really want to boot without any computer or dongle then you might want to invest in getting a mod chip fitted.
