GBAtemp is attending E3 2019!

As you can tell from the countdown timer that's been put on GBAtemp's homepage, E3 is almost here! There's less than a week to go before the big show kicks off, which will no doubt give us tons of new games to be excited for. E3 2019 will be an interesting event; this will be the first year in history that Sony will be skipping out on, despite growing anticipation behind the next-gen PlayStation system. That leaves the floor to Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Square Enix, and of course, Nintendo. Devolver Digital, Limited Run Games, and the PC Gaming Show will also host new reveals through smaller press conferences throughout the week.

E3 2019 will be a defining point for a lot of the AAA companies. Bethesda has a lot to prove after the turbulent reception to Fallout 76, and the prior announcement that they would not be bringing their two most hyped games--Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield--to their conference. With Sony out of the picture, Microsoft has a lot of room to impress, as all eyes will be on them. Recent acquisitions seem to show that Microsoft is taking exclusives seriously, having added Obsidian and inXile to their fold. Meanwhile, the Xbox codename Scarlett appears to have a focus on streaming, which has been a contentious topic for many. For many of you, Nintendo will be the highlight of the show, who has been hitting it out of the park when it comes to the Switch. The Switch has been breaking records left and right in terms of sales, so Nintendo will have to bring a lot to the table to continue its momentum. The PC Gaming Show should be a good source for debate, due to Epic Games arriving on the scene, and trying to edge in on Steam's market share. You'll have to watch to find out how many games will be exclusive to Epic's launcher on PC!

Having become something of a recent tradition, GBAtemp will once more be covering the event, live from the show floor. Just like last year, we're excited to say that we have a meeting with Nintendo, (thanks to @Hells Malice) and you can look forward to seeing coverage on their latest games! Microsoft and Bethesda have also graciously invited us to their press conferences, so keep an eye out, and maybe you'll see someone wearing a Tempy sweatshirt in the crowd on Twitch!

Are you excited for this year's E3? We sure are! With upcoming games such as Animal Crossing for the Nintendo Switch, Cyberpunk 2077, Pokemon Sword and Shield, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Halo Infinite, the Link's Awakening remake all slated for appearances, there's a packed lineup of previously announced titles, and a bevy of never-before-seen games that will be unveiled. As with every E3, rumors are already cropping up everywhere; there's the heavily hinted at new From Software game that might feature George R. R. Martin as its lead writer, the quiet tease of a potential Baldur's Gate 3, or the Rocket League roller-blade clone that Ubisoft has up its sleeve. Microsoft might reveal their new Xbox hardware, too. There's a lot to look forward to!

What game are you most excited to see? Are there any rumors that have you feeling hopeful? Let us know in the comments below! And be sure to stay tuned--our live coverage begins on June 9th!

Microsoft have a LOT to prove this year and for their sake I hope they have a good show. God knows they need it and it wouldn't hurt for Sony to have some more competition.

Otherwise, I'm most looking forward to whatever Sony has in store for the E3 period. I know they don't have a traditional conference but I'm sure they'll have some kind of streaming show ala. State of Play/Nintendo Direct with Last of Us II news and perhaps a PS5 tease.

It is a shame that companies are either telling you what will be at E3 or having there stuff leaked.

Which is why I don't understand why Sony isn't included. I'm sure they will have something for E3.

Although SE doesn't have a whole lot that I'm looking forward to beyond FF7-R, I'm really wanting to see more on Crystal Chronicles: Remastered, since we'll finally have multiplayer without the GBA-link shenanigans.

Otherwise, I am looking forward to Microsoft's, more so for Age of Empires 2: DE and especially (and hopefully) Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

Nintendo is 3rd on my list. We're already getting Pokemon Direct tomorrow, and we've already seen Mario Maker 2 and some Link's Awakening, so I'm not expecting a whole lot at the moment, unless they announce something big for the coming year.

Really? Last year Microsoft revealed a bunch of awesome games in the works. Sony...played a banjo for 20 minutes then moved everyone to a different area to wake them up.

Hah...well good luck with that. You'll have to buy an Xbox sooner or later in your life.

Wut. Microsoft is giving more freedom to their market. They're bringing their major titles to both Windows AND Xbox. If anything nowadays if you have a good PC you don't need an xbox anymore. Or at least, won't very soon.

I would love to go, but im not excited for e3 at all anymore. Its more or less a regular convention now, nothing like in the 90s.

E3 is 100% not worth going to if you're just a normy. All normies do is line up for 7 hours to try a 5 or 10-minute demo. The real reason to go is to be press and get meetings. Last year we got to play all sorts of games for 20min-1hour at our meetings in isolated areas. Plus press meetings give you access to way better stuff that's not available to the general population. Bamco (Code Vein and Soul Calibur), 505 (Bloodstained, Indivisible), and Nintendo (Smash Bros) were all highlights for me last year and none of them except smash bros with a literal 5+ hour line for a single timed match were available to people. In that sense, it's still very much a press only conference, if you want the good stuff.

I'll be watching the few I'm interested in.

Couldn't care much for Nintendo.

Yeah, Nintendwho?

I mean, we got people hyped for some needless remake(LoZ:LA was a good game but lol) and another Pokemon(Not sure how I feel about the recent info on this one) when there is GoTY level things in the works.
