GBAtemp is attending E3 2019!

As you can tell from the countdown timer that's been put on GBAtemp's homepage, E3 is almost here! There's less than a week to go before the big show kicks off, which will no doubt give us tons of new games to be excited for. E3 2019 will be an interesting event; this will be the first year in history that Sony will be skipping out on, despite growing anticipation behind the next-gen PlayStation system. That leaves the floor to Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Square Enix, and of course, Nintendo. Devolver Digital, Limited Run Games, and the PC Gaming Show will also host new reveals through smaller press conferences throughout the week.

E3 2019 will be a defining point for a lot of the AAA companies. Bethesda has a lot to prove after the turbulent reception to Fallout 76, and the prior announcement that they would not be bringing their two most hyped games--Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield--to their conference. With Sony out of the picture, Microsoft has a lot of room to impress, as all eyes will be on them. Recent acquisitions seem to show that Microsoft is taking exclusives seriously, having added Obsidian and inXile to their fold. Meanwhile, the Xbox codename Scarlett appears to have a focus on streaming, which has been a contentious topic for many. For many of you, Nintendo will be the highlight of the show, who has been hitting it out of the park when it comes to the Switch. The Switch has been breaking records left and right in terms of sales, so Nintendo will have to bring a lot to the table to continue its momentum. The PC Gaming Show should be a good source for debate, due to Epic Games arriving on the scene, and trying to edge in on Steam's market share. You'll have to watch to find out how many games will be exclusive to Epic's launcher on PC!

Having become something of a recent tradition, GBAtemp will once more be covering the event, live from the show floor. Just like last year, we're excited to say that we have a meeting with Nintendo, (thanks to @Hells Malice) and you can look forward to seeing coverage on their latest games! Microsoft and Bethesda have also graciously invited us to their press conferences, so keep an eye out, and maybe you'll see someone wearing a Tempy sweatshirt in the crowd on Twitch!

Are you excited for this year's E3? We sure are! With upcoming games such as Animal Crossing for the Nintendo Switch, Cyberpunk 2077, Pokemon Sword and Shield, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Halo Infinite, the Link's Awakening remake all slated for appearances, there's a packed lineup of previously announced titles, and a bevy of never-before-seen games that will be unveiled. As with every E3, rumors are already cropping up everywhere; there's the heavily hinted at new From Software game that might feature George R. R. Martin as its lead writer, the quiet tease of a potential Baldur's Gate 3, or the Rocket League roller-blade clone that Ubisoft has up its sleeve. Microsoft might reveal their new Xbox hardware, too. There's a lot to look forward to!

What game are you most excited to see? Are there any rumors that have you feeling hopeful? Let us know in the comments below! And be sure to stay tuned--our live coverage begins on June 9th!

Hopefully this year the Nintendo spokesperson goes insane and tries to murder you guys, it's what we all wait for.

Lol. The PR lady we did the interview with last year was super sweet. The nicest person at the whole event imo. I forget her name, but I think she told me that she was the president of Nintendo of Canada and Nintendo of Switzerland. @Hells Malice might know more, since he’s the one that got the appointment.

I want more info on the Ubisoft pass. Rumors are saying cost for the pass are between 50-120 USD a year. Giving monthly premium Ubisoft club currency, plus discounts to or out right replacing Ubisoft game season passes and granting access to games that have sold a predetermined amount of units.

Information on animal crossing and the next paper Mario. Shocking and true surprises from Nintendo would be greatly appreciated. As long as they are not heavily draw backs announced like the Mario maker 2 bs.

The release date on and how the Xbox cloud is going to work. Is it a sub or we having free access to games we already purchased digitally. Microsoft did announce through major Nelson way back in 2014, that each game and dlc bought digitally came with a free cloud copy. These cloud copies saved to our cloud storage along side our saves. Nothing has been done to make use of these cloud copies yet. Also been rumored for six months now for the game pass games to be usable on the switch via the cloud. I think a lot of gamers would love this. Of course, maybe Nintendo and Microsoft have already peaked their partner ship levels and nothing more will come of it besides more cross play titles.

There will probably be at least one announcement in the Nintendo presentation that I like. If there isn't, oh well; there's plenty of good games already available that I want to play.

Hoping we'll get news about:
- a Switch hardware revision
- more good stuff about the Zelda link's awakening remake
- maybe a new zelda game? yeah I'm like that lol

I know they said they wouldn't reveal anything but still hoping that they will: Elder Scrolls VI, Starfield

Can't say I have high expectations for this year's E3, but it's usually when expectations are low that you get good surprises. Too much hype, you end up disappointed. So lets see :)

I don't have a Switch, nor will I be able to afford one anytime soon. I am a big Kingdom Hearts / Final Fantasy fan, so I guess the one I'm looking forward to most will be the Square Enix one. Hopefully we'll get some more details of the KH3 DLC, at least. Other than that, I'm mostly curious if anything particularly good will be announced on Nintendo's end, but that's mostly just idle curiosity since, like I said, I don't have their current system, just a 3DS.

Absolute pipe dream, but it would be nice if Nintendo decided to make official counterparts to stuff that people have already managed to do through hacking/homebrew, like some of the graphical mods for Breath of the Wild. It really is a shame when the homebrew/emulated stuff is better than the official version. Not likely to happen, though.

Considering Sonic Mania did exceptionally well, but not as many people were thrilled with Sonic Forces, maybe Sega will have something interesting for their next project. Doubt it, though. They don't seem to really learn from experience.

i just pictured one of the staff members doing a tempy cosplay

Totally agree. Would be some pretty easy novelty sunglasses merch to make, I imagine.

As for the topic, literally none of the E3 stuff excites me. That's mostly because rarely does any E3 or similar conference/gathering/whatever usually excite me: the unexpected announcements throughout the year from many different companies are usually more compelling. Having said that, specifically none of the companies mentioned really excite me. What companies do excite me? Hmm...that's an even harder question to answer, but I think that's actually probably a more worthy question, so (don't mean to be a total thread jack, but there was no "other" option):

What game company excites you the most for the next year or so as far as possible game announcement goes?
