So I have a Seagate hdd that has an xci on it and Im trying to install via sx installer or tinfoil but when I try to search for it I cannot find the file. Does my hdd have to be formatted or what would I need to do. Im running 8.0.1 emunand

Just curious, but why would you want to install an xci? They are meant to be mounted so there's no installing needed and it saves space. Unless, of course, you just wanted it to launch it without having to mount it first. Option is obviously yours.

Anyways, the HDD needs to be formatted to exFat, not NTFS. You should be able to plug the HDD directly into the dock and the album/SX installer/Tinfoil will scan it and see it.

Edit: Also, make sure your folder structure is correct. Folder structure for SX installer should read:

USB:/sxos/xci/xci's here
USB:/nsp/nsp's here
USB:/updates/updates here
USB:/dlc/dlc here

No, you won't. His data will be completely fine. There's no need to make it any more difficult with having it formatted as fat32. ExFat is completely fine for HDD. I would recommend fat32 for homebrew purposes though, but that's not the case here.

People have different experiences, that's all there is to it. I've used exFat formatted on many sd cards and many HDD's, on many consoles ,without any issue whatsoever. Like I said, I do use fat32 for homebrew.

Nintendo doesn't have native USB support, so how it can be "because their exFat drivers are bad"
