First of all, thanks for providing the fan translation.

I just noticed that during the first case in the court record under people, everyone has their given name written first and their surname written second apart from Taizou Uzukumaru who is written as Uzukumaru Taizou. Is there a particular reason for that? Because it is kinda confusing to me since he mentioned Uzukumaru family first, but then his surname stood first in the court record while everyone else's given name was written first.

I know this isn't really an issue or sth very important, just sth I noticed.

Hey, thanks for the translation, it must have been a lot of work. I have a question, what was the decision behind the use of "j*ps" in the text ? Even in a game dealing with racism, it seems too strong a word for a series like ace attorney

let me repost what I answered someone else with the same question:
This is certainly not the right forum to discuss an issue as serious as racism in a way that does it justice, but let me just briefly summarise our view on the matter. Racism is ugly and it should make you feel bad when you encounter it. It’s unfair, it’s baseless and it has no logic to it. Sweeping it under the rug, “softening” it or removing it entirely does not help anyone. It may make some people feel less guilty or it may not rattle people if we toned it down, but that would be unethical. We feel that we captured the tone of the original version well in our translation and we do think that we did the right thing here. You may or may not agree with that – and that’s fine. If you want to further discuss this, you may DM me on Discord: uwabami#6413

I was wondering, are the Asinine Attorney cases also going to be translated for DGS 2?
We've answered this a few times already, but DGS2 has the priority. We may look at translating the DLC for both games, but we do have legal concerns, since it's impossible to get the DLC legally without a Japanese 3DS (or a region changed one, which I doubt many people would do).

First of all, thanks for providing the fan translation.

Just verified this, you're right. Fixed for the next release. But can you use our issue tracker on github next time (link is on our website). I don't check gbatemp as often and issues are posted directly to our server :)

let me repost what I answered someone else with the same question:

You are 100% in the right to not censor anything. In a world of murder and crime, racism is really lower on the offensive scale...especially as it serves the purpose of establishing the time period and the struggles of the characters. No, using the strong language is exactly what the writers intended and is exactly right for the message of the story.

That is not what I meant to say. What I meant to say is that if we hide how hurtful and bad racism is, it doesn't help anyone. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Racism is bad, and hiding it won't stop it. Get it into the open and show it for what it is.

I absolutely love what you've done here and have been feverishly playing through the game since it released as I've been waiting for the full game since episode 1 released.

As someone from England, I just wanted to bring up an... interesting noun used against Holmes in Episode 5. The word 'nonce' may have once meant idiot, but commonly is now a word to describe someone as a child sex offender. The word is slang and I don't think anyone would care about its use but I wanted to bring it up anyway because you may have been unaware of its modern connotations (which I was too until just a few months ago).

Otherwise, brilliant job!

This has been reported before, but this is not entirely accurate. The person who wrote this dialogue is from England herself and all our other members from the UK were unaware of the meaning you describe. We've asked around a little, and none of the British people we asked had ever used that word to describe a pedophile. It seems to us that this meaning is very uncommon and we've added it to our Glossary with the commonly known meaning. We certainly did not mean for Gina to call Holmes a pedophile.

Understood! Like I said, I believe it's only recently the word had been taken to mean that and really you can justify it considering it's set in Victorian England where, if the word was around, it would have been used as an idiot. As I mentioned, due to how uncommon the word is these days, it's rare for people to know the new meaning and I certainly never thought you had the intent of Gina calling Holmes that (especially since he does mention being called an idiot later). Sorry to report this again if someone already did!

Is it probably going to be another year or two again when you finish DGS2? I accidentally read some spoilers. It's not just on the ace attorney wikia, there was a spoiler on Soseki Natsume's wikipedia page for some reason. Hopefully I forget what I read when DGS2 is finished.

I finished Episode 5 yesterday and I must say, I'm really thankful to you guys for being able to experience it. There weren't really any issues with the patch at all other than the game crashing two times. This, I find of note simply because I did not experience such crashes on the Episode 1-4 patch. I've been following you guys since 2017 and I don't think that then I could imagine myself playing this beautiful video game. Love you guys for everything you've done and will be patiently awaiting for DGS 2.
