Currently running SX OS and have a bunch of games installed to the SD card, XCI's and NSP's.
Didn't create an emuNAND before I started, just jumped right into installing games.

Now I'd like to create an emuNAND and clean the actual NAND. Do I have to reinstall all the games?
And more importantly, do I lose my saves?
Or do the installed games still work, even after I format the actual NAND.

Thanks for all the replies in advance!

Everything will be copied when creating EmuNAND.
Have you ever sent any error logs to ninty? If so, it is impossible to clean your SysNAND. If you were always offline, system format might be good enough. If you want totally clean NAND and don't have a backup, you can rebuild your NAND.

There is some way to clean that nand but it is a lot of work , according to mattytrog he suggested another user doing this.

Mount the emmc in hacdiskmount.

For 100% clean emmc...

Mount SYSTEM, bis key 2.
You will have:

Contents
save
saveMeta (maybe)

1) Delete saveMeta folder if it exists.
2) Go in to save, delete everything apart from 8000000000000120 - you will want to complete initial setup when booted!
3) Go into Contents/placehld. Delete anything that may be in here (probably empty)
4) Go to SD card, delete Nintendo folder. It is now useless.

Unmount, boot. Done.

1. create a emunand based your current nand which means the nand will be a copy of what you have currently
2. restore nand backuo with hekate_ctcaer_4.9.1.bin payload or sx os menu
3. download firmware files for 7.0.1 and update either your systemnand or emunand with ChoiDujourNXv101

if you care about the deja vu don't update past 7.x.x which is why i said 7.0.1 for either if you u wish to update either but if u update via ChoiDujourNXv101 you will be able to downgrade later so 8.0 is ok on stock with no cfw. if u want this only do this with sysnand

You'll need to reinstall your games. When I made my emunand all the games that were installed on the SD card were erased.

if you create emuNAND on hidden partition it formats the SD Card.

if you create emuNAND as files, it does not format the SD card.

something to consider but hidden partition is safer compare to just files on sd card

potentially.. if you have exFAT as second partition then the hidden partition is safe as exfat corrupts quite often on the Switch, second partition as FAT32 would be a much better idea.

but if entire partititon is FAT32 then there is the second File Allocation Table which protects against stuff ups / corruption on the SD card and as said - you can just backup the emuNAND files to a computer.. so like all backup plans do it regularly and you won't lose data / encounter issues.

Having the emuNAND as files also makes restoring a borked system really quick and easy (format the card, copy the files and boot.dat back and it's operational again), as well as migrating to a larger SD card a lot easier.

Thank you all for your replies and input.
I have now created an emuNAND on a hidden partition on FAT32.

As has been stated before by Joaoaug, the SD card formats when you format the NAND.
So I guess I'll refrain from doing so.

The current setup works for my personal use, I guess.
Just can't access the SD card from emuNAND or through FTP.

What do you mean you can't access the SD from emunand or FTP?

Your sd card is still accesable, the hidden emunand is jsut your OS that s being loaded from the hidden partition

the hidden partition is about 32GB which shows up as unpopulated in windows but its there so don't touch that and rest is accessible FAT32 which u can treat like normal

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
