Todd Howard confirms that Bethesda will not be showing Elder Scrolls VI or Starfield at E3 2019

vrg_vsc_062_bethesda_e3_header.0.0.jpg

Bethesda fans might have to temper their expectations for this year's E3, at least, if they were looking forward to seeing either The Elder Scrolls VI or Starfield. Considering that the reveal for The Elder Scrolls VI was moreso just letting fans know that it exists, and Starfield was only announced last summer, it might not be the biggest surprise to have both those titles be no-shows this year, but it could also mean that Bethesda's 2019 conference won't be be as packed as previous years, as development teams may be focused on these two games instead of new projects. Major titles like DOOM: Eternal and Wolfenstein: Youngblood will still have a large presence at E3 2019, where both of which are slated for release this year.

Oh please. Todd's ego won't let him not have something to be on stage for. This is the same moron that thinks it's totally okay to have cartwheeling horses with ten dollar armor DLC, porting the same game to increasingly inappropriate platforms is okay, and fully defended fallout 76... Which, the less said about that dumpster fire, the better.

The only thing that would keep him off stage at E3 is a credible threat or attempt on his life. Nothing less will keep that idiot from inflating his ego even further.

Oh boy more Elder Scrolls TCG news. The two people who play that will be excited. But for real though, if they're still doing E3 they're basically going to talk about new games they're publishing of other developers, Elder Scrolls TCG, Fallout 76 patch updates, app nonsense, and Elder Scrolls Online's Elsweyr expansion (we put Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout 76, why not dragons in the 2nd era?). Pretty much an easy skip.

I just did a google search and i'm not sure where you found that information. There is no where that Todd confirms they are reusing the old engine.

I don't think you looked hard enough... Here... It's not a "direct" confirmation, but he states...
“For Fallout 76 we have changed a lot. The game uses a new renderer, a new lighting system and a new system for the landscape generation. For Starfield even more of it changes. And for The Elder Scrolls 6, out there on the horizon even more. We like our editor. It allows us to create worlds really fast and the modders know it really well. There are some elementary ways we create our games and that will continue because that lets us be efficient and we think it works best.”

So, unless there's a more recent confirmation stating otherwise? It's more than a safe bet to state that ESVI will be using the same shitty engine. Adding a "new renderer" doesn't detract from the fact that every game released on this engine has been a buggy mess... and they're proud of that?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

People love to complain about the creation engine, and yes it does have issues

But they managed to make a lot of great games using it, and they are revamping it little by little

It's the argument of renovation vs. from scratch

One saves you a lot of time and money and so it is usually the route preferred

When Fallout 4 legitimately hits 0 FPS on a console, there's no defending just how bad the engine is. The games can be great, sure.. but it's not the engine that makes them that way.. Unless you have a thing for horses breaking every possible law of physics...

Not really surprising. ESVI was announced last year with no footage because it was so early in development. I forget when they even announced Starfield, last E3? So no surprise there either.

There's basically nothing interesting confirmed for E3 this year. But eh, can't be exciting every year when games have multi-year development cycles. Glad I went last year with all the exciting titles being shown and demo'd.

At this rate, Skyblivion will be playable before the next elder scrolls.

And I don't believe they will go to e3 without a tiny tease of ES6. They're keeping expectations low.

For the record, Doom Eternal isn't officially slated for 2019 yet, but it's still very likely due to the circumstances with Google Stadia and with the game getting a major focus on E3.
Also with the whole hype about "The Year of Doom", since it's celebrating the series' 25th anniversary(despite the fact that 2019 actually marks the 25th anniversary, lol)

A maybe Christmas release is still far away.

Hate to say it, but unless there is a huge miracle that they pull off during E3, there is absolutely no recovering from the abortive dumpster fire that is Fallout 76.

Very doubtful since the people who actually played it enjoyed it, and the people who didn't whined about it and moved onto the next game release to bitch about instead.

Though it is true it's a lot more fun with friends, and most of the vocal morons don't have any of those because they're unbearable. So I kind of understand where the hate came from.

I wonder if he even has the balls to go up on stage after Fallout 76.

Also, Wolfenstein Youngblood looks awful. Wolfenstein the new Colossus was a huge let down for me. It was so damn short! The new one doesn't even have BJ! :(

True, I'm so disappointed. I'm really hoping they announce a new mainline Wolfenstein next year, since Cyberpilot and Youngblood are apparently both spinoffs and seem kinda boring

There's no defending the shitty way they've handled the Collector's Edition, bugs, nerfing, etc
