Hacking RetroArch - Metal Slug and NEOGEO games

Just started to play with RetroArch
I tried to load - Metal Slug (.zip) - neither FB Alpha or Mame2003 /10 worked
I keep getting black screen with a lot of #

Can someone please help me get the Metal Slug games (+ other NEOGEO games) to work
I Google search - bios (neogeo.zip), is this needed?, where do i place it

Also when i load a game .zip and i ended up with a black screen+ lots of # - is rebooting (pull power plug) the only option

Put neogeo.zip in same folder where the games are.

Hey.

Just wanted to jump on here and thank you for this.

Thought I'd be smart and alter my CrazyMac rom folders. Ended up deleting this zip file and COULD NOT figure out what was wrong.
