Better Homebrew Support - Atmosphere supports for one thing, title ID redirection, which allows homebrew to use all the system's RAM, allowing for things like the Half-life port and DooM3 port. It also allows svc permissions, which give us another level of control over the system

Creport - A) prevents some (but not all) of Nintendo's telemetry and B) allows devs to debug easier via logs.

Better layered FS - I don't know about that one specifically, I don't use layeredFS much

Pretty fatal sysmodule - If the system crashes, it looks nice, and Atmosphere's sysmodule also allows you to reboot to payload from a crashed state

Kip loading - add in extra sysmodules, like sysftpd so you can ftp to your switch and access the SD as long as you're connected to wifi.

Hmm, so if Nintendo release 7.0.2 today then it's all good because it's only been 0 days since TX didn't support the latest FW?

WTAF?

If they release a new firmware it could delay the release indeed.
No need to be super clever to understand that.

Thank you for that summary @cactusjack901

so trying to compare apples with apples:

Better Homebrew Support - nicer to have it built in, but SX OS also allows homebrew to use all the system's RAM. Install the HBmenu.nro, then when you click R on any title, it will auto go into the HBmenu and run with full system resources.

Creport - guess the logging would help devs, Nintendo telemetry is blocked on SX OS with Stealth mode.

Better layered FS - I don't know about that one specifically, I don't use layeredFS much. Me neither.

Pretty fatal sysmodule - ummm.. yeah?

Kip loading - the sysFTP one is the one I've most often, as well as the recent LANplay module. SX OS has built in FTP. I've never used it so don't know if it can access the SD card directly.

Of course they can't update, they can't delete sept's splashscreen :creep:
They have to wait for someone else to release an open-source and no watermark solution :creep:
Or they just need time to reverse-engineer the code themselves, and steal it the hard way. :rofl2:

If you're only running homebrew - guess what, you didn't need to buy SX OS at all.. you can run homebrew with no licence - ie: for free.

Hmm looking back at all the help me requests and people having trouble with it, no it doesn't appear to be as easy as you're implying.

So I'm curious, what features of Atmosphere do you want / appeal to you since you're not using backups? I'm guessing game saves? They'll work for free under SX OS as well.
SXOS without a license has even less features than Atmosphere. And SXOSs homebrew support in general is terrible (random crashes, slowdowns and other issues that don’t occur on Atmosphere)

Most of the issues back then were user error

Atmosphere is far more up to date than SXOS (sx still uses syodules from around November 2018) which means various things are more stable and have more features, like fsmitm has per title overrides and is generally more stable now than it was in November. Atmosphere has exosphere which allows for reboot to payload and RCM, and you can even literally just use the regular restart button to use said reboot to payload feature. Atmosphere properly shuts down the system for autoRCM users. Atmosphere has a lot of proper anti-telemetry stuff like creport and fatal (which also allow for easier debugging) and it even forces the telemetry option in settings to off. Atmosphere now has a cheat engine that is not only more advanced than Gateways but is also fully backwards compatible and fixed many of the bugs that Gateways had. Atmosphere will soon be reimplementing TMA which will be very powerful as it’ll allow for debugging over usb and file transfer over usb (without a homebrew app). Custom sysmodule loading is a very powerful feature that allows you to extend the feature set of your CFW one of my favorite sysmodules is sysclk. You can very easily communicate with the Atmosphere devs so if you have an issue or a feature request you can very easily ask about it, or even implement it yourself if you’re capable of it since it is open source

That specific sysmodule is pretty useful for certain games. I'd imagine that TX will incorporate it as a new feature in the next SX OS update, as well as a few other open source features.

All these grown men/women comparing their toys' features lol

I'm a cheap cu*t and use ReiNX, but if you're in a camp (Atmosphere or SXOS), stay with it and just live with your decision. The other camp obviously is happy with their features, and it doesn't matter to them what circumstances you're in that made you pick a camp.
But all this thread is just a debate of who's di*k is bigger than the other. Or better yet, who's stroking the bigger di*k. It's awesome.

I personally will give TX another week, and if there's no 7.x support until then, it just goes to show how incompetent they are FOR A PAID SOLUTION.

Been watching the SX vs Atmo fight in here for quite a while. The fanaticism of each side is remarkable. Did want to make a couple of points, though.

The Only Facts:
1. SX-OS only works on firmware version 6.2 or below at this time
2. Atmosphere and ReINX only work on firmware versions 7.0.1 or below at this time
everything other than this is speculation and opinion, so here's some opinion.

Opinion/Speculation:
Right now I am unaware of any game or game update that *requires* 7.0.x (i.e. that require Master Key 7). Happy to be corrected on this point. There *are* game updates out there that prompt you to update to 7.0.x but this can be bypassed since they all use Master Key 6 or below.
So 7.0.x support is not a compelling argument for SX vs Atmo...yet.

However, it is not hard to accidentally update to 7.0.x. For SX-OS users, until very recently they were screwed unless they had a NAND backup. (Very few will have).
Due to the fine work of Atmosphere and ChoiDuJour NX, you can now downgrade a 7.0.x Switch to 6.2, so SX-OS will start working again.

It is much simpler and less time consuming to get games to work on SX-OS than it is on Atmosphere.
For me at this point in time, SX-OS is simply easier to deal with than Atmosphere for my needs. If/when the time comes to change, I will do so.

ps
SX does actually have full memory access for homebrew + background FTP
(Now dons flameproof suit)

Problem here is that everyone likes to be credited when dev something (I'm not blaming, I'm like that to), and dev a xci loader breaks the law. If reswitched releases emunand, then there is a good alternative

Few updates are signed with mkey 7 and the splatoon JP demo is also now signed with mkey 7

Does this looks contradictory to you?
No fine print stating Emunand must be on firmware v6.2 or whatever.

I guess they may not be lying, but not putting in a fine print somewhere, may constitute as them lying by saying all firmware without emunand.

I just got a Switch with 7.0.1 firmware that has a low serial. Please correct me if I am wrong, but my options as of now is either Atmostphere or wait till SC OS supports 7.0.1 (a friend of mine gave me an SX Gear) ?

Those are your best options, yes. You should check to make sure it's at least unpatched by launching an RCM payload. You can also use Hekate to make a NAND backup.

If you just have to use SX OS right now (not sure why), it is possible to downgrade to 6.2.0, if you're willing to install AutoRCM.

If you haven't used CFW before, I'd recommend starting with Atmosphere, since it's likely going to be supported for much longer than SX OS will be, and you're probably going to have to make the switch to Atmosphere eventually.

Edit: And obviously, if you use Atmosphere, you don't have to wait to start using CFW. You can also use Atmosphere now and switch to SX OS later.

You can use atmosphere or reinx (nightly build) as long as your switch isn't a ipatch unit. I would reccomend you use atmosphere for now since it has a few features that reinx dosnt have.

All well and good, except getting games to actually WORK on Atmosphere is a painful process compared to SX-OS.
...and that's all that the majority care about.

Atmo:
- find and install patches
- convert XCI to NSP or locate NSP. Conversion may or may not work. Try multiple tools if it doesn't work first time.
- install NSP. Installation may or may not work. Try multiple installation tools if it doesn't work first time.

SX-OS:
- copy XCI to SD card
- play

Hmm? I just pop in a cartridge or download a title off the eshop and it just works(tm), no special patches and whatever needed
