After years of neglecting my Wii, I've finally decided to mod it to play games from an external drive. I currently have an HDD set aside for this task. My question is will I see any noticeable difference in load times with an SSD? I'm assuming the USB port on the Wii is going to bottleneck and negate any speeds I would have gained using an SSD?

Nope. USB loaders are capped at 8x speed for compatibility I believe (retail discs are 6x speed) so you won't see any improvement with an SSD. The games were designed to run off DVDs after all which is much slower than any HDD.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
