Tried your method, doesn't work. It just flashes green, ReiNX 1.6 loads and gets stuck at "Patching OS" and just stops. Had the microSD card in two different directions, no dice.Well I found this comment in the feedbacks section. Hope it help
"No instructions! To change from default payload, insert microsd with the payload.bin you want (at root) , then plug into switch. Switch will load payload on sd card, and dongle will save payload that was on sd card for future use. So next time no need sd card unless changing payload!"
It works like the guy sd get a small soze sd and add ur perferd payload as payload.bin then plug it into the swirch while its on but not in cfw or in cfe dont matter make sure thiers a red light then add the sd and it should flash green ontop of red light that means ur payload has been update it they dont gold a charge so while its in n red light is on u have about 60 sec of charge haha put console into rcm while its still plugged in and red light on then it should go off n switch should be in rcm then unplug n plug it in and it flash rapid green and it should inject it i orderd a rcm loader from wish and got this
