It works fine for me using the latest stable version, but i remember having to do a clean install or else it wouldn't work properly and freezed quite often. Once i set everything up it's pretty snappy, it takes a couple of seconds to load the cores, i think less than 10
It works really nicely too, it replaced all of my vwii emulators. Can you show us a screenshot of your folder structure? I backed up mine on my pc, so i can restore the correct files in case i screw something up in the future, if it isn't against the rules i can upload my backup (without bios and roms of course)

what sd card do you use?

I use a class 10 samsung evo 64gb .. does the size of the sd card makes a difference? It is actually a microsd card in a sd card adapter

ah ok.. here's my retroarch folder:

they were generated by retroarch on first launch if I am not mistaken
You're missing the assets folder, you should download it and place it into retroarch's folder
If that doesn't work you can try using my backup files. I'll upload them later. The sd card could make a difference i theory, but these old games don't require high read speed, so i don't think that's the problem. I had 2 sandisks, one had 40mb read speed, the other (which I'm using now) has 80, but retroarch it's not any faster with it.

I read before in Wii U Guide: Your SD card cannot be named wiiu, or it will cause problems.
Oh yeah i forgot about that. That might be it then.

Btw i uploaded my retroarch backup in case anyone needs it, removed the .cfg files and bioses, so i shouldn't break any rules:

It has every essential file required for retroarch to work. Bare in mind there are no filters because i don't use any, i think you can download them from retroarch website. Also if anyone has problems with games requiring their console's bios, it has to be placed in retroarch>cores>system.

ok thx very much!

retroarch is a bit faster now but not by very much. I mainly tried mame roms which may also affect load speed

I have also renamed my sdcard but that makes no difference.

You're welcome.
That could be it, mine is snappy but i haven't tested any mame roms, i tried nes, snes, mega drive, mega cd, turbografx, turbo cd, gameboy/color/advance and virtual boy. If it is that slow even with those, maybe you either have a fake sd card or it isn't formatted properly

How much faster can you upload a video. I can tell you if it’s normal speed or not.
