got cfw last night and tried to get into rcm mode today and it wont work anymore ;-; the kitchen foil is still on the red joycon and it just wont boot into rcm anymore pls help
Yeah I've been seeing you trying to figure this out, with a whole lot of ignorance. Can I just send you a jig? Free of charge, and I accept NO RESPONSIBILITY if you somehow mess up your switch with it. Especially since you've been trying foil and god knows what else.

Free jig, free shipping, free delivery, it will be in an envelope shipping from US so it will not be fast at all. I don't want to see an unpatched unit be destroyed, and I'm feeling generous today.
ok should i message you the address?

So what are the risks of using a paper clip?

Yeah I know if you are careless or insert it over and over you can damage the pins and need to repair the rail, but what about only using it once to activate AutoRCM? And if you don't connect the correct pins, the worst thing is that it won't boot at all and have to try again =/

I would order a jig if it didn't take like 3 months to arrive, with the chance of getting lost in the mail be like 70%...

Well I used a safety-pin back in august, set AutoRCM...
Haven't needed it since. lol

yeah, after checking the safety pin image it seems like the safest DIY option since it "barely" touches pin 10 and the metal of the chassis, no real risk of bending, breaking, touching another pins, scratching the pins or so....unless you're really clumsy...
And for a 1 time use with AutoRCM even better

wheres the autorcm option i cant find it :I

You can find it as an option in the Hekate payload.

AutoRCM (Dangerous!):
The AutoRCM, also known as briccmii, it is based on @Reisyukaku AutoRCM v2 and it smartly corrupts the boot configuration in BOOT0 partition.
This allows the user to always boot/reboot into RCM, without the need of a jig.
Because it writes to the eMMC, it is considered a dangerous operation and must be used with caution and only if needed.
Warning: The various auto rcm solutions are incompatible between them.
That means, that if you used AutoRCM v2, you need to use the same again to restore it back. Not another solution.

Cramming foil in your joycon rail... sigh. I dont know why people keep recommending this method. Any real professional cringes when they hear this suggestion.

Clean all the aluminum foil out and use a jig. Period. Mic drop

Note that AutoRCM is a good way to drain your battery. If you plug your Switch in all the time or store it in the cradle you'll be fine. Otherwise, I wouldn't trust your battery not to run down... which is extremely annoying since it takes about 20 minutes of charging before it will turn back on and almost 3 hours to fully charge.

If you are trying to run a higher firmware without burning fuses than DEFINITELY use AutoRCM, else you will burn your fuses anyway anytime you try to boot into RCM and your jig doesn't kick in right (and they don't reliably work 100% of the time).
