Hacking What FW is everyone using?

Good morning homebrew community. My question today, is with ChoiduJourNX why would everyone not upgrade to FW 6.0.1 (save fuse)?

I’m just trying to see the downside of using 6.0.1. Is it because it updates the joy con controllers? Will that cause issues if we all wanted to downgrade?

As new games/DLC/updates become available, they may require this FW. I know tinfoil can bypass the check.

6.0.1 via official means, probably burned my entire Switch from 4.1.0 XD. Yep, can't go back as I don't need to at the moment anyway ^^

4.1 - updated from stock 3.0 (before Choij update was available) and from cartridge 002 of BotW to play it.

If Tinfoil can bypass check what the point in updating at all? (I have a 3.0.2 about to hack)

I'm on 5.1, i will update it as soon as a game requires it. Since i dont use online

there's no need to update the FW to 6.0.1
My joycons were already updated and i dont feel any difference nor had any bugs/error playing whith them on the FW 5.1

Mine's on 2.2.0 (5.1.0 Choidujour) atm. I'll move to a higher firm when one of my games require it.

I'm not sure if updating the controller has any negative effects when using an older fw (leaning towards no), hopefully someone else can chime in on this.

Tinfoil's bypass has some restrictions.
For example, an imaginary game "X" made with 4.Xs keygen that requires 4.1.0, can be bypassed to run on a system as low as 4.0.0.
You would need to update to at least 4.0.0 to play "X" since lower firmwares don't support newer keygen.

For this reason it's still in peoples' interest to update, as games will eventually be built with newer keygen.

I'm on 5.1, no games I want to play require me to update, and everything's working perfectly...So I don't see why I should upgrade...Of course not until a new game I'm interested in playing that requires updating comes out, that is.

That is what I was thinking too. Games encryption keys will require it at some point.

I would think Joycon, updated to 6.0.1 should not matter, since you could use your joystick on a friends Switch that is not updated.

5.1.0. That's what my Switch came with so I have no reason to use Choi, but at the same time I also have no reason to upgrade to 6.0.1.

If pokemon or smash requires the latest update it will be hard to find some one on lower FW but at least for now there's nothing forcing us to update the FW

Not exactly true. If you have the key, you can use it on lower firmware. Don't think the 6.x keys have been leaked just yet though.

Atmosphère, ReiNX, RejNX, SX OS, RetroArch, NX-Shell, Checkpoint, NX Appstore, anything works on 6.0.1 so why would anyone stay on a lower FW? Thanks to ChoiDujourNX there's no real reason.
I bet Smash won't run on 5.x anyway.

Hacked/Banned Console - 6.0.0 with 6.0.1 ready to install
Official Console - 6.0.1

With AutoRCM and ChoiD bypassing fuses I don't see a reason to not update my banned console, unless Ninty puts in some nasty code for us scallywags down the line.
