Damn it, who even likes hand-holding? Why can't we have something like NSMB's Super Guide instead of ripping out core content to appeal to stupid people?

I miss when games were "Nintendo hard"

Nobody, but there's definitely a difference between an easy/simple game and a hand-holding game. Even after Let's Go is released I bet Sun/Moon remain more the more hand-holdy titles. With simpler mechanics GF probably won't feel like they need half the damn game for the tutorial.

On the latest episode of Pokemon:

Psychiatrist: Has the medication been helping?
Ash: Yes, I think so. I feel a lot calmer now.
Psychiatrist: Just remember, if you feel the need, you can call my office at any time, and we'll work how best to proceed.
Ash: Thanks Doc. Finally, I think I'm ready for the world and a real life! I've come to realize that with treating of my OCD I don't need to catch 'em all!

*three weeks later, Pokemon died*

edit: If you wanna skip the intro go to 1:45
This video will explain my thoughts on this far better that i but the short version is:
Pokémon is an RPG for casual players made for a young audience and was never being a hard game.
Random Encounters are not a part of the "CORE" experience, which is Battling and catching Pokémon.

And in my own experience: Objects and Abilities, are overlook in single player campaing and just come into play in competitive matches.

I don't wana fight here, the comic is funny, i just don't see why a Pokémon game has to be "hard-core"
In the other hand i have't play the game i don't have a Switch and the game could be terrible.

I never understood the random encounter bit that was never part of the pokemon franchise and is usually done in rom hacks. I guess the complaints are from those who expect it to be like Pkmn GO in that nature.
The only time hardcore becomes a thing in pokemon is when you spend weeks or months building a competitive team generally endgame play. I would add shiny hunting, but after X and Y shiny hunts became easier enough for casuals

Saying that people are upset because "Pokemon needs to be hardcore" is just creating a fake strawman and knocking it over.
I personally think that new Pokemon has become more complicated. The EV and IV system is completely unneccessary, and when it comes to things like O-Powers and NPC's chasing you down whenever you go through a door the complexity is enough to make me want to stop playing. I also think online public trading completely ruined the sense of discovery in tracking down elusive pokemon - you can just saunter on over to the GTS and get a level 100 of whatever you want.

Pokemon didn't use to cater to autists in this way. To me, when I'd play a pokemon game, I'd play through the story and beat the pokemon league, and then while enjoying the post-game content I'd try to complete the Pokedex, until I lost interest. I usually wouldn't manage to complete it, but I did in Sapphire version. (great game) I guess you could make the case that EV's and IV's were there to entertain autists, and that the main game didn't need to be about it, but I always felt like it sort of spoiled the experience for me, in drowning me in more features than I really wanted to deal with, and not offering a tangible reward or sense of progression in learning any of it (other than to brag about how I'd blown 10 hours of my life to genetically engineer the perfect Blissey online). I don't want to spend my time that way, and I don't think anyone should.

I'm glad Nintendo is taking a cue from people like me, but I think perhaps they've overshot too far in the other direction. Maybe it's all hype and it'll actually be a solid game even despite the changes. Maybe they're imagining something different, we won't know until we get it. And if it sucks, well, you know there'll be another one, and I'm sure Nintendo will get that one right when they see how many people complain about it.

But gen1 had proper battles instead of Pokémon Go mechanics
true, i only meant its odd to group complaints from two different camps

Not faithful enough to the original camp: Battle mechanics changed, no HM slaves, no random battles

Too faithful to the original camp: Only 151 Pokemon, no hold moves
