On my 3ds, whenever I try to save data for my PKMN Ultra Moon, nothing happens. Can somebody help me with my situation?
How are you loading it? Like, how are you accessing homebrew? The newer release has issues with targeted titles. Putting the XML on git in the same dir as the 3dsx will trigger *hax mode, but it's very finicky about what it will start under.

I put the XML in the same folder as the 3dsx, but now it goes glitchy and then stuck at a red screen. Also, what do I need to put in my JKSM folder? I feel like I'm missing a file.

Did the Homebrew Launcher still ask you to select a target? Otherwise, the old version at the top of this page (177) is worth a try.

What makes you feel that? jksm.3dsx, jksm.xml, and jksm.smdh is all there is. And there's jksm.cia, but that won't do you any good if you're using *hax.

So, do you have CFW installed, or are you using steelhax or something?

I'm using steelhax. Also it is asking me to select a target.

I just wanted to pop in and drop some bad news... I don't think *hax is happening anytime soon.

It took some effort, but I managed to compile the last version before I completely disappeared (02-07-2017) sf2d and all. Even with that I am greeted with a red screen. I know this release did work before though. I would never have pushed it to Git without at least giving it a good run down.

I also built a newer version of the hb menu and, unless I'm missing something, the target selector either isn't working or has been removed. JKSV starts without the selector and defaults to "Download Play" as if the xml isn't there. The problem is that in order for *hax mode to even start, the xml file must be present and in the same directory as the 3dsx.

That's unfortunate. It is a fine thing to have quick and easy access to save data via *hax.

If I may venture a silly question: if you take out JP support, does your compiled binary still resemble the old one I posted on page 177? (Perhaps taking out JP support will solve the problem directly?)

It's definitely not the font. The latest version relies on citro2d, so it just uses the system font. I've tried a ton, downgrading devkitARM and ctrulib didn't work either. What finally sealed it was when I wrote a simple helloworld that printed the game's ID using ctru's default console output. That even resulted in a red screen. I'm not going to give up. It's just not going to happen really soon.

I suppose you've tried different entry points as well? I would volunteer to do some testing, if you'd think it would make any difference.

I was stuck for hours trying to figure out the best way to backup the Card 2 save file from a Gateway EmuNAND console with no other CFW.

In the end it was easy, but I had 2 3DS consoles to test with, 1 on old official fw 4.5 and Gateway EmuNAND 11.2, the other console on up-to-date Luma CFW on Sys fw 11.8.

For Card 2 saves (ie Pokémon Alpha Sapphire)...
The way I did this was to add BigBlueMenu.3ds to Gateway SD card, add JK's SaveManager (JKSM) to internal SD card.
Start Gateway EmuNAND and run the BigBlueMenu, install the JKSM.cia. Exit.
Select the Pokemon game within the Gateway menu but don't start it (so it shows in the 3DS tile menu).
Run JKSM, dump all content to SD. It created "JKSV\Saves\Pokémon Alpha Sapphire\2018-09-02_11-34-30\main".
Copied this file using a PC to other SD card from console already setup with Luma.

On other console, install Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.cia, then run the game and let it create a new save file.
Exit Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.
Run JKSM on this other console and import the save file from SD card. Exit.
Play Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and save file is imported and works!

No, I haven't. I'm using Rei-Six and the homebrew launcher CIA to test *hax. If anything new happens, I'll check in with ya. The fact that even a simple helloworld can't start screams to me that something is wrong somewhere else that is out of my control though.

I used GM9 + cartridges + this tool to copy my card games to my 3DS for playing easily. However, each time I try importing a save I have some issues. I have found that the only way to view save data for a game is if there is save data already present. Since I have been using this to restore save data from nothing, I manually create data by launching the game. I'd recommend allowing game saves without data for restoration because it's a bit tedious when there are so many cartridges to restore data.

I wish I could, but there is no way to actually create it. There's also the fact that creating it needs some info that only the game knows, like file counts, directory counts, etc.

Hi, I tried to transfer may save file from a game cart (mario kart 7) to the cia version using the latest version (08/19/2018). So I selected "save data", "new", then proceeded with the default name from the game cart. Then I selected the sd card version but I'm stuck with the "save data" button. It didnt freeze, but no matter how many times I press A, it won't proceed. So then I took the risk and transferred the data with the Save Data Transfer Tool which purged the game cart and transferred the save to the cia version. I went back to jksm to copy the newly migrated save file from the sd card to the game cart. However, its the game cart version now which won't proceed with the "save data" button. I'd appreciate it greatly if someone would guide me with this. Thanks

You need to start the game first in order to do that. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a while since I looked at it, but IIRC Ninty's save data transfer tool opens your cart archive with FSUSER_OpenFileDirectly, copies, and then deletes/erases the cart's archive. I was going to try it at one point just for shits and giggles, but then my PC died and I have no way of retrieving the notes I had on path data.
