Diablo III: Eternal Collection announced for Switch

Earlier today, Forbes accidentally let an article go live a little too early, revealing the existence of a Diablo III port for the Nintendo Switch. Eurogamer had already hinted at such a thing being a possibility earlier this year, but until now, there's been no definitive proof. Kotaku also corroborated the news, stating that the official announcement was scheduled for August 16, but as Forbes let things slip, all bets are off. Reportedly, the package will be titled Diablo III: Eternal Collection, and will feature all the content updates and DLC released thus far. The Switch version will also have special version bonuses, such as a Ganondorf armor set, as well as local 4-player multiplayer all on one console. LAN and online co-op will also be included features. A release date hasn't been given, but it's due out later this year, for a full retail price of $59.99.

Update: Officially announced

Sounds like a very nice thing IF they don't shovel in always-online. The whole reason I never got it for PC.

PC is the only version with always-online, and the internet-less lan support basically confirms that this will be played locally like on the other consoles.

Of course expect hacked items out the gills if you head online since Switch is even more vulnerable than the PS4/Xbone are.

Which is exactly why I won't be going online. It's something that ruined my Xbox gameplay.

Sounds good to me. Thx for the clarification.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Thinking about it, it's remarkable that there seems to be no fully working Diablo II recreation. At least acording to this list. This is remarkable for three reasons. First the game is/was insanely popular, second it's a kind of game I suppose to go very well with alot of programmers and finally they already put alot of work in remaking the Diablo II Battle.net servers you would assume some of the team behind that is interested to go further.
Well, there is a version that works well on Win10 with fixes and updates that was released just a year or two ago. So any remake has limited use.

I'm not that convinced that D3 is a good title for the Switch regardless of the technical impossibility to get serious farming on the way as what you can do on a PC it will eat your battery at an alarming rate of you tend to do stuff as farming with 30+ mobs on the screen.

It will suffer one way or another be that in frame rate or limited in undocked time.
Since there is little to keep D3 going on the PC and with all kinds of hints of the 4+ new projects I got to say that this full price game will have a very narrow audience to begin with.

I thought it was available on warez sites

Apparently Ganondorf is confirmed as playable character, with a few other Zelda themed things.

EDIT : My bad, don't know if he's playable or it's just a boss or something, but you can get his armor in the game

stop that please
this isn't Nintendo's decision
it's Blizzard's
Not to mention the meme was that Nintendo had no third-party games. Now idiots like Reploid pretend that having more third-party games on the system is a bad thing. Anything to keep things low effort I guess.

Looks like it's finally got from Nintendos ass to their head, that Mario and gang aren't enough for the console to survive. Maybe switch isnt as powerful as the other 2 companies consoles but it's portable and it's getting a pretty decent 3rd party line-up that's great for portable playing as does titles aren't on any other portable platform. Switch is gonna have better game lineup then gamecube, wii and wiiu together, already does.
