Team Rebug starts pre-orders for their SwitchMe internal modchip

NEWS UPDATE: July 22th - Team REBUG has started pre-orders for their Switch Dev Board! :)
final-render.jpg

Team REBUG has put on the final touches to their 'SwitchME' dev board for the Nintendo Switch console, they have added some 'breakout' solder pads for future expansion and other usages, but it still only needs 4 wires for normal installs on your Switch, and it allows full usage of all the various payloads from ReiNX to Atmosphere to SX OS. :)

Pricing Tiers:
  • 1 – $7.49
  • 2-9 – $7.29
  • 10-19 – $7.00
  • 20-49 – $6.79
  • 50+ – $6.00
Nintendo Switch Dev Board
  • Internal board to launch RCM payloads.
  • Cortex m0+ dev board
  • This is a pre-order, expect delivery in the very near future.
  • Board Dimensions 0.59 x 1.05 inch
You can use this to launch Custom Firmware’s for the Nintendo Switch.
  • Auto RCM Strapping – 5-6 wire install
  • Software Auto RCM – 4 wire install
  • Normal Mode – 4 wire install
  • Auto Payload injection after reboot – 5-6 wire install
If no Auto RCM strapping used you will either need to use a jig or solder pin 1-10 on the right joycon. We will have detailed write-ups soon under the Nintendo Switch section of the site. You can also use this as standalone development board (Like the Trinket m0)
The project is basically finished now, they have moved into the 'pre-order' phase with amazing affordable pricing starting at only $7.49 each, so check it out now:

yes but itsnt that soldering to the cap we usually do, whats with the points under the board.

i dont mind soldering under the board to avoid tiny soldering to caps

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

any one checked this,
could be hell of alot easier to use the other points

glad to know, they look much better for me honestly, one more thing cause ill do the install in 2 days,

the L1/K1/K2/K3 are on the top
While G9/E10 Are Bottom Of The Mobo.

so i can be clear on that.

i guess ill go with these point better to be honest.

Yup! Exactly! My recommendation is to route the cables to the top here:

The shipping shows some insane #'s until you put in your actual address in the calculator, or just go to checkout.
This has to do with the api from easyship and it's on their end, I have no idea why it defaults to those insane prices, but I can fully remove the shipping calculator all together and you'll see the shipping costs at the end. I have to say using easyship for shipping I haven't seen better pricing, even with my bulk accounts.
You can't even mail a small polly bag envelope here in the states for under $5

Edit: I just removed the calculator form the main cart to make life easy and not show some obscene price for shipping.

@Kukielka
I have never seen someone trying to hate so hard...
All were trying to do is bring something to market at a dirt cheap price.
Also something that we can be proud of and would want to stick in our $300+ consoles
I mean you really think we are making a fortune on this????
"hint" It's less than a few cents, as were not producing 10k + at a time and were not greedy scumbags.
If we were in it for the $ we would literally just pull a tx move and sell you simple easy to use piracy tool (only uncrackable)

Hate? For helping people out on how to install a trinket, which THEY asked for? :D
Only thing I did in this thread was to complain about shipping cost (which were actually 15$ for me lol).

I don't mind companies / private ppl making bank, I don't like seeing people getting ripped off when there are better alternatives tho.
I couldn't give less of a shit about your profit margins whatsoever. :)

This is actually hilarious! :D

See there ya go hatin again ;)
Please tell me how were ripping people off?
I mean that is your argument right?
Also explain to me how the trinket is the better solution?
You have to rip a bunch of parts off don't you?

Also you want praise for helping people??!!??
That's just called being a good human being, but here I'll praise you (thanks for helping people out with something they don't know as much about as you)
Gooooood Human
Now when you want to act like a normal person and stop throwing such shade, hit me up and we will just send you one the house. Than maybe you'll help some more people with less knowledge than you.

Omg this is gold. The ceo of a company(?) acting childish on an online forum.
Yeah that really speaks well for you and your product. :D

Besides all the fun:
  1. No I don't want praise. Me helping out others was just the only thing that bothered you about me, since the more people that get themself a Adafruit Trinket M0, the less people buy your product. Calling me out for hating on your product was unreasonable, cause all I did was to help others and to complain about shipping fees once like literally EVERYONE else. :D
  2. I have to decline your generous offer, but I really don't want you to know my address.
  3. There is a cheaper product on the market that has been already tested and tried to it's guts, it has more functionality since you can use it for pretty much any application (not only limited to switch homebrewing), is open source and it is widely available. Admittedly, your product does not require the removal of components from the dev board, tho.
  4. This is not hate, I'm merely pointing out the pros / cons of products on the market.

With the cheapest/slowest shipping option it ends up being about £15 total for UK. A Trinket is about £10 shipped (1 day delivery too). It's real pity the shipping cost ends up killing the otherwise decent value of the unit itself.

Heya, I placed an order already so thanks for the cheap modchip! Quick question: do you know how much this chip inpacts battery life outside of the dock? Thanks!

As a matter of fact I do ;)
If you leave connected to an always on power source such as the battery, outside of the dock and the switch powered off/sleep mode it will eat 3-5% battery life in 24 hours.
Now I haven't tested a switch unplugged from the dock in powered off/sleep mode for 24 hours so that just might be normal discharge rate. The MCU goes into a deep sleep when its not running the payload and barely sips power. You can check out the specs of the cortex m0+ at microchip.com or digikey.com

Now if you connect the chip to the dropout pin the MCU only becomes active at boot time and goes into a deep sleep.
advantages and disadvantages are this.

In always on mode with deep sleep, you can flash payloads to the MCU even when the switch is fully powered off.
In voltage dropout mode you can only flash the chip when booted up in normal mode.

Can someone list the pro's and cons of this thing vs the SX PRO. I know this is soldered but in terms of playing backups and homebrew is their a difference? Does this have custom firmware? Is SX OS still the best custom firmware?

This (and trinket) has no firmware of its own, it's simply a tool to launch firmware.

You can launch Rei, Hekate, SX, whatever suits your fancy.
A chainloader will be available Soon(TM) apparently which will let you just flash once and run whatever firmware you like thereafter off the SD.

Features of current CFW are the same regardless of how you launch them, with the only exception being that the SX Pro has an embedded SX OS license you can activate on a single switch.

cheers for the responde mate. This chainloader sounds interesting. Would this be a cold boot option? Or i'm assuming you will still need to use the jig or Auto RCM mode?

Not a cool boot, you will still need to launch a payload. A chain loader allows payloads to launch another payload "chain loading"

What exactly is the point of this?

Think of it as an SX Pro soldered to the inside of your Switch. Or a little board that handles sending the payload automatically rather than needing a USB-C cable connected to a computer, Android, or iOS device.
