Nothing. Switch homebrew is in its infancy. You won't be seeing something like freeshop (or if it's even possible) for a very long time. You should also hurry and buy a Switch right now and keep it in the firmware it's on because there's most likely going to be a new hardware revision of the Switch that's going to be released soon that will take away a certain vulnerability that every current Switches have right now. So if you want to hack it in the near future, you should get one as soon as you can.

Here's the deal... You clearly didn't use the search functions or look at the stickied posts before making this thread. There will be a custom firmware, there will be homebrew capabilities, and these things have set release dates. But piracy and applications like freeloader are purely speculative until we get CFW. So please read the stickied post and research before creating new threads on topics that are purely speculative and easily answered with a little effort on your part.

Couple things:
1. CFW isn’t out yet
2. Piracy is not allowed to be discussed on this board.
3. If you buy a switch when piracy comes out, you won’t be able to exploit it because it will be the new Mariko versions.

G’day :grog:

Are you sure piracy is not allowed to be discussed? because I'm pretty sure this constitutes a discussion about piracy and this is the first place on the net I learned how to pirate stuff. So...yeah.

I'll never understand why ppl blurt out they pirate its suppose to be an anonymous sort of thing....
Because nobody cares. Nintendo doesn't exactly have secret agents reading every post on this forum, assassinating people talking about using freeshop. They mainly target the distributors and enablers of piracy, not the pirates.

Nintendo doesn't need to track down pirates in such a tedious manner anyway. The devices phone home incriminating data. As displayed by the Pokemon SunMoon ban wave and the "spotpass" ban wave, Nintendo has ways to find hacked consoles and knock them out if they wanted to.

Freeshop? who needs freeshop when I have Green Luma STEAM running on my Switch and now I can play all my PC games on my switch at over 100FPS no matter what game, this is POWER from the GODS.............(JOKING :D).

I think you won't see Freeshop on the Switch or it might eventually appear in the LOOONG future, but I think that involves too much black hacking and I don't think Nintendo will like it...

Most likely something like backups hosted from some server that connects to a Switch homebrew app could appear, but who the hell would run a service like that 4 free and risk prison?

People on here get their tits in a twist about piracy....99% of users on here have pirated SOMETHING in their life....if you have ever downloaded an MP3 from the internet of non-royalty free music, you've pirated music. Or more likely on this forum, if you have ever downloaded a ROM for an emulator (which seems to be the number one requested homebrew for systems is emulators) then you've pirated games. Just because the games are old Nintendo or Sega ROMs, doesn't mean it's "freeware". It even states on Nintendo's own website: https://www.nintendo.com/corp/legal.jsp#roms

Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?

There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.

"Warez" - ROMs, WADs, ISOs & CIAs

"Warez" is an internet term used to describe copyrighted software, game, film, music and data piracy.
  • We DO NOT HOST or PROVIDE ROMs/WADs/ISOs/CIAs; or link to websites that do contain ROMs/WADs/ISOs/CIAs.
  • We do not allow or condone sharing of title keys or any other form of copyrighted material or content.
  • Members may NOT ASK and MAY NOT PROVIDE INFORMATION or LINKS for and to places that provide ROM, WAD, ISO and CIA files in absolutely any way on our forum including PM (private message).
  • Members may also NOT mention torrent or warez-containing sites or channels by name or otherwise.
  • We do not condone piracy in any way.
  • Please go elsewhere if you only wish to download or share illegal files. The GBAtemp Forums are for discussion ONLY.
These rules also apply to other "warez" too, not just ROM, WAD, ISO & CIA files; this includes (but is NOT limited to) - licensed and copyrighted software, code, movies, music, video games, magazines, comics, e-books, television shows, illegal torrents, etc. These rules also account for "keygens" and "cracks" including how to obtain, apply or install them.

Those are the most frequently broken rules, and are the most important. Failure to comply with these rules may result in an instant ban on your forum account. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse!
All it says is they don't condone piracy, meaning posting or asking for links to copyrighted files and/or sites that host copyrighted files. This is how GBATemp keeps the site from being shutdown by not having any copyrighted files/links hosted on the site. Piracy is allowed to be discussed though. Go ask a mod if you think otherwise.

If you actually read and understand what you quoted, it states you can't link to it discuss about places to get warez. It does not say you can't talk about piracy in general, and OP wasnt asking for warez either so the post is not breaking forum rules.

I know, I literally stated that in my post "meaning posting or asking for links to copyrighted files and/or sites that host copyrighted files."

That wasn't aimed at the OP either, it was to everyone in this thread that keeps saying we can't discuss piracy because we can, we just can't ask or share links that contain copyrighted files

Ah, then I apologize. I guess I kinda saw it as you saying OP was doing that. Sorry about that
Edit: I see what happened. I quoted the wrong post
