How many different payloads are available now? Do any of them enable external USB playback of games?

There are several ported to 4.55: original, holygrail (hen), ftp, ftp + update blocker, dumper, enable web browser.

None enable external usb HDD for playback. The dev behind the holygrail said he will not enable this because: piracy.

Thank for update. I did see that specific tweet by m0rph3us1987 regarding external USB playback, so I assume that feature was blocked by him and not by qwerty in the kernel exploit of 4.55. Does that mean that other payload can enable external USB playback if they chose to or are all the payloads (to date) based off of m0rph3us1987's HEN?

It means we have to wait for someone to reverse the holygrail payload and add/enable external usb functionality.

Damn that sucks. I was looking forward to moving my OWN dumped games to external storage to free up space on internal. But I can see why he didn't enable it.

You can do that with 4.55 however you cannot launch them, so as a space saver move it to external "extended storage".. to launch the game just move it back to internal....

The 4.05 HEN by VVildCard777 and m0rph3us1987 have two different code base, but both are based on flat_z research, my guess is, the feature wasn't blocked but simply wasn't covered by flat_z.

VVildCard777's HEN source is public tho.

I dunno...the way m0rph3us1987 worded his Tweet, it sounded like he didn't include external USB support on purpose not because it wasn't available:

https://twitter.com/m0rph3us1987/st...ll-not-support-usb-hard-drive-backup-loading/

I'll have to start following VVildCard777's HEN updates closely.

are these games installed to the hdd or to the flash drive/external hdd?
upgraded your internal hdd i did that, i got a seagate 2tb firecuda sshd

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Internal HDD.

You can mod the database to read from usb and copy the installed folders from your ps4 filesystem to the external exfat drive, to run the from there.

Edit:

I will cover this in the guide here soon: https://gbatemp.net/threads/aio-ps4-exploit-guide.497858/
is possible to play from external hdd baby?
if yes am gonna get a 8tb one

thanks. I had already upgraded to a 2TB drive. it's just a normal hdd though. I need to dump several games.

where is the app.db and appcont.db located? I saw that somewhere, but I forgot where. I want to back those up in case the database gets corrupted. I backed up the app.db and appmeta on my vita for that very reason. ;)
