The Google Pixel and that laptop they recently made should've sold like hot cakes but they didn't. The Pixel is also, in my opinion, pretty bad compared to other phones in the same price range. I'm still interested in how this will turn out though.

The Ouya was just a shit Android "console", OnLive was the shit game-streaming thing. At least, until Sony bought them out and shut it down for PSNow stuff

As to this, meh. Over internet game streaming still isn't worth it yet IMO, at least not until decent fiber internet becomes widespread everywhere so we can have low latency for low input lag.

Was reading about this earlier today. Seems unnecessary as most people who game have either a console or a gaming pc. Guess for those with underpowered hardware could benefit but with a weak connection I can imagine it would be difficult to get any real enjoyment out of this.

I bought an Ouya for 20 bucks at a yard sale. It's been in my basement since.

In this case, no. It's when a company, like Sony or Nvidia, host servers that allow someone to play games (PC in Nvidia's case, PS3/PS4 in Sony's) streamed straight to their device, without having to own the console or PC it's being streamed to.

It's mainly bad, because most modern internet connections aren't quick enough/have a low enough ping for decent stream quality and low input lag.

why are people talking about Ouya in regards to this? Ouya is shitty device by no body. this is a streaming service by one of if not the biggest tech companies.

yes both is about android in one way or another but thats it.

OnLive was a good service. Lemme guess, you had a shit internet connection back then? Onlive was a LOT easier to enjoy if you used it as a supplement to your game collection, not your primary form of gaming.

Fact of the matter, is that it is only a matter of time until a new gaming/streaming service that will actually compete with Steam gets announced. Origin was supposed to be the competition, but as we know, EA can't do anything right.

The more competition the better, be it for Steam or for Sony/Microsoft. Let's see what Google will bring to the table.

The problem with OnLive was the prices of games. Most of them were full priced and people were afraid that they'd lose their libraries for good once they would shut down. Turns out they did.

Agreed. Hopefully others were like me and had a pc capable of playing said games by the time of the shutdown. I wasn't happy that day but shit happens ad we move on. In hindsight it was a nice kick in the pants and lead me to start using Steam.

My ears are perked. At least with Google, you can count on good network reliability and fast speeds. Still, I wouldn't really buy an Android gaming subscription, if that's what this ends up being (not a fan of mobile games).

Google Play is by far the most toxic game market I had ever see. It full of trash app and f2p game that prey on people with weak money management skill and kid with parent cc. So "playing android games natively" is never a pros for me.

I really don't know how to feel about this. I used to love game streaming with things like liquid sky since my laptop was made out of chicken wire and play doh, but now my PC has a GTX 1060 in it... I have a switch. Who is this marketed for?
