context: my programming knowledge extends to one semester of python and whatever instructions i can follow in tutorials. i'm using a new 3ds xl, most recent versions of homebrew and braindump, and 64-bit windows

i was trying to dump fire emblem awakening with braindump, but instead of text, the top screen went black with like, diagonal lines of rainbow pixels??? and the touch screen turned red. i tried pushing some buttons and nothing happened, so i held down the power button until the system shut off. when i turned it back on (with the cartidge still in) the spot on the menu where the game should be was blank. i tried taking it out and putting it in again, but nothing changed. when i checked the sd card, there was a new .cxi file just shy of 3000 kb large. is this the game? (or part of it? seems too small to be the whole thing) can i put it back on the cart somehow or am i better off just buying a new game?

Try blowing into the cartridge slot.

Ignore this advice. Moisture introduced to the gamecard slot pins will only oxidize the pins faster.

The NAND chip inside your game either died, or the gamecard slot in your system died. Try a different game, and see if you can play it. That will determine what the problem is.

@hetoheto
does the game actually work in the console? or other game?
braindump is outdated.
if you are using RXTOOLS or some shit like that, i suggest you to upgreade: https://3ds.guide/
now you can use plenty of tools to dump cards, i do believe FBI also now dumps them
you can also use good mode 9

but try to see other possibilities. like test other game in your console. your card slot maybe is going bad...

the touch screen becomming red, kinda hints me you where using a tool for homebrew launcher, right?

other games work just fine, so i guess it's the card. thanks!

@migles
