Homebrew New to emulation, looking for help and info

Hello, I have been playing video games for nearly two decades now, but after getting a DS Lite for the first time last week, I have become quite interested in emulation
I have searched the internet quite a bit and read over these forums thoroughly, though my current understanding of emulation is still extremely basic.

I want to play DS roms and GBA roms on my DS Lite, as well as more classic consoles on my DS Lite as well, such as SNES, Genesis, etc

I have looked over the major devices mentioned here for DS, but am still unsure of myself and what to choose
Could you guys recommend which devices I should get for DS, GBA, and Classic(SNES etc) emulation all on the DS Lite? R4 seems to be a good choice for DS emulation, but I am unsure as to why

Also, any basic help would be greatly appreciated; I am at the first step in learning, and any advice at all would be of great help, such as where to find certain things online to download, basic beginner websites(which are tough to find with all the junk/spam sites out there), and other such things, whether it is posted here or sent through PM

Anyways thank you for reading, and I hope I can learn and gain a much better understanding, as I am very interested in this

For genesis Picodrive is the only good one, its workable but a tad slow and no sound. There are supposedly good SNES emulators though i dont own snes games so cant help there. Lameboy and another emulator plays gb/gbc games. ScummDS is another emulator to try and supposedly there are some previously commercial games now released as freeware.

All these should work on the R4. By the way R4 and M3 simply are basically the same except use different firmware--R4 gets updates faster. CycloDS looks promising to some because of good download play features but time will tell how its software updates holds up.

For gba, youll have to buy a slot 2 card. For the largest possible storage and best gba compatibilty, the m3 products are top choice. supercard is okay but has some slowdown issues with some games. G6 is also popular but has a set amount of storage space.

Id recommend looking at the reviews for flashcarts located on this site for the feature differences.

You need a slot 2 counterpart for GBA. Classic consoles can be emulated by slot 1.

R4 + 3in1 expansion is probably the cheapest and most popular combination to use

I just ordered the R4, but which slot 2 is the all around best for mainly GBA games? I dont mind spending more if it is worth it

would 3 in 1 be my best shot or is another slot 2 better, just more expensive?

edit: keep in mind that I dont want to modify my ds at all, if that is any factor

3in1 supports one game at a time (needs to be flashed onto the memory), but after that it acts just like a retail game, so I'm assuming it'll be 100% or slightly less.

If you need to carry more, perhaps an EZ4 Lite Deluxe, or M3/G6 Lite

For DS, SNES, NES, etc. emulation, an R4 is a good choice. For GBA emulation, get an EZ Flash 4 (You won't be able to use the web browser though) or a more expensive alternative would be an M3 Lite (and you will be able to use the browser)

I got an R4 and it is up and working

A few further questions:

-I have Pokemon Diamond retail and would like to have the game as well as my save file accessible through the R4, how can I transfer the data exactly?

-I have seen many opinions but am looking for definitive answers; could someone tell the the very best emulator on the DS for each of these consoles?

I have the g6 real (without the slot 2 thing, the one you put in the GBA "socket" on the DS)

Will these emulators work well on my DS as well, and what exactly do I have to buy to be able to play GBA games? Is it enough to buy the slot-2 card? And does it have to be G6 Real?

i have an m3 simply with all these emulators currently on my sd card and they all work fine on it, so your r4 can definetely handle it too.

would anyone be able to inform me regarding my other question about moving my game data and save to the R4?

to the question above, you need a slot 2 to play GBA games, and there are a number that work well
