Here's the scan for the chip:

I'm waiting for the v1.1 update disc to come out, which is supposed to be this week, then I can finally confirm to see if these clones can really be updated.

The shipping from Dealextreme to US was pretty fast, as I got it under 7 business days.

1.1 is out, are you talking about 1.2?

I'm sorry, yes I meant v1.2. I ran v1.1 and it worked fine. I hope that new update comes really soon. As for backups, yes it plays Wii and GC Backups, tested both USA/JAPAN backups for both systems and they work fine.

You folks might want to keep in mind that the Wiikey team has already confirmed that they will be doing everything in their power to block future update and configuration software from running on these clone chips. It may also render the chip useless. You might be getting a cheap solution now but there will likely be no future compatability upgrades when using clones. You have been warned.

When that time comes, you just need to buy another chip and swap it.

There will always be something better in the future.
I don't see the point in buying chip and making the assumption that you'll use it for the rest of your Wii's lifetime.
When there's a better chip down the road you'll make a switch anyways.

As for crippling clones, if that were to happen people with clone chips just won't run the upgrade then.
If you find it too much of a hassle to replace a chip, then please don't get one in the first place, buy original games.

Doesn't matter, all these chips are dvd drive hacks anyway, and they already do almost all the stuff that is possible for that hack. It's not like an update is going to make them run Wii Homebrew.

I can't wait to get my FAKE Wiikey for $10.99 !!
When the time comes, when my clone won't be working anymore, I will just buy a better chip

So are the Kaidomain and Dealextreme's wiikey the same? If so, wich store do you recommend between the two?
I would probably purchased from Dealextreme if only because they at least admitted that theirs weren't really real. They claim real chip but cloned pcb. Whereas Kaidomain still claims theirs as real, though their current wording on their site hints at it being only real chip but cloned pcb.
