Well, semi-correct. The Pandora battery was basically a way to force the PSP bootloader to copy whatever is contained on the memory stick directly to the firmware. So again, the firmware was not backed up on the PSP, but it allowed you to flash anything to the PSP.

I KNOW that when you update, it OVERWRITES your firmware. There is no read-only firmware on the 3DS, sorry.

By the way that still means you cannot downgrade from [INSERT FIRMWARE THAT IS GREATER THAN 9.2].
It's your problem that you updated, not ours, so please stop whining about it.
Buy a sealed Old 3DS or 2DS if you want exploitable firmware.
