Funny I did tried your "unused" but actually they are used.
Try to make for example the first alone. (meaning the rest black)
And see why I tell it :)

Here my detailed Idea on it + screen to show what it look with color "RGB : 0, 255, 255"
Yes I reset all my colours back to black bitween all try.
So good luck :P
FordelButton.png
Define "Reset to black"?

Each time i did a test I made all other colors to black (1 to 7 so not the arrow color)
Also I have added colors gradients to help to find the right colors.

Example of "Reset to black"
In exemple 3
I had "1 and 2" as Black (0.0.0)
"3" as "0.255.255"
and "4 & 5 & 6 & 7" as Black again "0.0.0"
Then and I did that for every test to be sure to see only the related colors I changed. :)

If you set 1 2 or 3 to 0,0,0 it shows up incorrectly as red.

I did similar tests with Folder Arrow, checking how a test color blends against different backgrounds. I picked 255,128,64 (#ff8040) because I knew it would be easy to identify each color channel, when viewing them individually. ("Red" would be the brightest, "Green" would be half as bright, "Blue would be a quarter as bright)

What I didn't know is how these channels are blended together. You can see the correct color in Color 2 and Color 3 when set against black (actually 1,1,1), but they act very differently when set against white. I've included the Folder Arrow palettes from the "Sonic Boom" theme (free download), and the "Game & Watch (Colorful)" theme (Europe only?) as examples.

I think it's fair to say that the Folder Arrow palette is witchcraft. That or buggy. (Or both)

It seems that the first 5 colors are useless.

The official Jumping Mario has the same colors in slots 1-3 and 5.

BTW, is there a tutorial on how to make custom sounds effect and use them in a custom theme?

Seriously, read my post. Colors 2, 3, and 4 are the colors for the button, these are broken but you can work with them.

The Red Green and Blue fields are incorrectly used, you want to key in your 255 13 14 red button as 13 14 255.

Red Green Blue = Green Blue Red.

7 8 and 9 work correctly for the button arrow, and use traditional RGB format.

I've made an example:
pSuWnmL.png

All the red slots are COMPLETELY unused. The 2 3 and 4 slots are the exact same colors as the first 3 boxes of "Icon-resize" just rearranged to GBR instead of RGB, while leaving 7 8 and 9 normal.

2 is button highlight
3 is button main color
4 is button shadow, it's a bit intense so I prefer to leave it the same color as button main color
7 is arrow shadow
8 is arrow main color
9 is arrow pressed down

The ONLY stipulation is that using pure black 0,0,0 as anything will force the color red to show. So if you want black buttons use 1,1,1.

This wasn't luck.

1 and 5 are used, as shown in the image I posted above (if that image didn't load, it's here). 6 is the only slot that hasn't been identified.

1 appears to be Button Shading, or some sort of shading override
2 is Button Outline and Button Pressed Color
3 is Button Color and Button Pressed Outline
4 is Button Highlight, but also appears to double as Button Glow
5 appears to be a second Button Glow/Shadow, though it is faint. It may appear to be stronger against light backdrops though, haven't tested this.

It doesn't appear to be as simple as rearranging to GBR, either. Due to the way colors are blended, Hue adjustments may be required in some cases — specifically for Color 2 and Color 3.

In these shots (also uploaded here), compare the color of the Folder Arrow button to the Close button. This also demonstrates the effect that Color 1 has on the button while unpressed.

That fixed it, thank you.

Anyway, it would be good if YATA+ didn't force you to have WMP installed even if that means no sound preview support. European Windows N versions don't come with WMP.

I know, the first version didn't had media player embedded, but the user had to manually close every time his sound player or else yata couldn't replace the temp sound, and some players gave problems like they didn't close instantly the sound , so i decided to use WMP

Ok so, after I've seen so much interest in the back arrow i decided to do some research and i found out that there are 2 bytes at the starting of the arrow chunk which are always 0 and other three bytes at the end, those too are 0, so....
i attached what i found out with some notes, to see right the file open it in the windows' notepad.
Also i attached a custom version of YATA that can edit those byte i just found.
Don't replace YATA+ v1.3.1 with this because this version may be very unstable and is only tested to change the back arrow values

The best solution would be to make the sound feature optional. So you are not forced to have WMP installed.

Yes, but then there would be the problems related to the other players, so just use WMP, it doesn't bite
It doesn't bite, but I hate installing garbage in my HDD
What I'm suggesting is to disable all audio features in YATA+ if no WMP is found, there won't be problems of files being used by other apps in that case.

In the next version i'll add the option to disable WMP, btw it's part of winzozz so you arleady installed garbage(like internet explorer), and disabling it won't unistall it, just hide from the user

If you say so, i knew that the N versions just had it disabled by default
It doesn't even appear in the Turn windows features on/off list. You have to download it separetely.
I'm using Windows 10 btw, maybe it was different with W7/8 but I really doubt it, because Windows N versions are built for some countries due to some laws that don't allow it for some reason.

Pardon my unintentional ignorance and misunderstanding here, but is there any way to install custom themes using Tubehax or Ironhax? The only homebrew I can launch is .3dsx files, and the gateway launcher from the web browser exploit. I don't own cubic ninja, gateway, or OoT3D, so anything I can install a theme with on a naked 9.2U 2DS is welcomed here. ^^;

Tubehax is praticly ninjhax from youtube, so you can use CHMM : https://gbatemp.net/threads/chmm-custom-homemenu-manager.379349/

The ONLY stipulation is that using pure black 0,0,0 as anything will force the color red to show. So if you want black buttons use 1,1,1.

This wasn't luck.
Your themes and buttons follow a color theme where most of the colors are fairly the same. You can't see the actual difference between what you picked and what you got, but your general marking of what boxes aren't used was somewhat helpful. Also, the colors aren't rearranged to GBR, they are still RGB.

Also i attached a custom version of YATA that can edit those byte i just found.
The custom version was helpful. I can't provide all of the values yet (did about 7-8 individual test files just for the first box), but what I have figured out seems to be correct and handles the folder arrow in it's entirety (as far as I can tell).

By bytes (x represents padding, ? represents unknown):
x x ? ? R G B R G B R G B R G B ? ? ? ? R G B R G B R G B x x x
In order: Button Pressed Color, Button Main Color, Button Highlight, Button Glow, arrow shadow, arrow main color, arrow pressed color (arrow bytes are unchanged)

Most likely all of the buttons act the same way, but the button is broken up into 5 parts: Top border, Left border, Right border, Highlight color, Main color.
The left and right borders have the same color, but change color on press. The top border color is always the same as the main color.
Unpressed, the left/right borders are the button's pressed color. When pressed, they change to the highlight color.

Unknown values may or may not affect the button.

- Edit -
Added button shadow to byte write-up. 6 bytes still unknown. This is about as far as I am able to go, changing the remaining values has no visible change to the unpressed button and I don't notice any changes with the pressed button on my 3DS. Either way, every noticeable aspect of the folder icon can now be accurately changed.
