the developers of the game confirmed that it was a n3ds only release cause the game was too laggy on o3ds, and the reason it came out today was a short term playstation exclusivity agreement.

You misunderstand. BoI is the first game that has come out since 9.6 came out that is N3DS only, so while the game was made to be sold and make money, Nintendo is taking the opportunity to try out new crypto on it to see if it can be cracked. If it can, then maybe they will come out with something new for the 10.x firmware, if not, maybe they will stay with what they got now.

Im ripping the 9.9 nand right now to rip the game, I'll get the update whenever it comes out

Having trouble restoring the 9.9 nand, will fix it tomorrow, too tired tonight

If the nand restore isn't working right, maybe you can reach out to member hundshamer for help. He seems to be knowledgeable about hardmod use.

Businesses don't operate like this.

Nintendo built an encryption algorithm in order for it to never be broken.
This "oh nintendo are testing 9.9 now lol because 10.0 lol is going to be the best!!!! lol omg" thing you're doing isn't based on any kind of logic.

Yea he's my boy and I talk to him daily. He's also the one who installed the port.

I am just going to give it another shot when I get home otherwise I'm shipping it to be repaired tonight and will be delayed by about 5 days

That's a bad news. I hope you will manage to get it fixed...

It will be fixed just not today so the only real bad news is just a delay on the release from me

What actually happened that it needs to be sent out? And what will the person receiving it do with it? I thought w/ the hard mod, all recovery efforts necessary can be done alone? (unless the hardware itself came apart/damaged like solder detachment)

hmmmm, didn't you say you got the 9.9 nand dump after buying it?, if so if you already have your xorpads to decrypt your nand you could probably pass the files along to someone else to check if they can decrypt the game using your seeddb.bin file

also yeah from the sounds of it a wire probably got knocked loose, these things can happen, shouldn't be too much of an issue if you can send it off to be fixed

Let's say I have a N3DS with a hardmod and I've bought BoI:Rebirth. What are the steps I would need to do to dump the cia? Also, could I create a cryptofixed version?

Minus your stupid lol and omg stuff and saying 10 is going to be the best, yes, companies can work like this. If the current one doesn't get broken, no need to put a new on in 10. If the current one gets broken, then they put a new one in 10. Sorry you can't follow the logic.

It's not how it works.

It uses the cryptography of the SDK they use to compile it with.
Companies don't just "test" things, they update things like this that can cost them millions.

@Ronhero

I'll give a small guide here.

Backup 9.0-9.2 nand.Update to 9.9 download game + update.Backup 9.9 nand and restore 9.0-9.2 nand.Make a fat16xorpad of your nand with Decrypt9 and pull your decrypted fat16.bin from the 9.9 nand backup.Mount fat16.bin in winimage and get your ticket.db and 00000000 that is the seeddb. Then use CDNto3DS to get the 3ds of the game and the cia of the update. Then use seedconv with the 00000000 file to get the seeddb.bin.

Then you would put the 3ds + seeddb.bin on sd card and decrypt with Decrypt9.It would use a combination of the 7x ncch + 9.6 seed keys to decrypt the romfs. But with this being a n3ds only game i don't know if it will use 7x ncch or 9.x ncch for decrypting the romfs. If it uses 7x ncch you will be able to decrypt it if it uses 9.x ncch you probably wont be able to decrypt it.

It will probably use the 7x ncch + 9.6 seed keys for the romfs crypto so you would be able to cryptofix it.

But it will definitely use 9.x ncch to launch the game so it wont run on the o3ds.

With the game using 9.6 seed crypto and probably needing 9.6+ fw it will probably use the new 9.6 ncch keys to launch the game.If thats the case the game would need 9.6+ emunand to work.

I thought about that and will have to find my old xor if I still have them. I was just going to make a new one

You obviously don't remember the Sony fiasco. They bricked thousands of consoles following an update and refused to replace the systems because it was a "small number of affected users" and didn't warrant a recall or anything.

You forget that Sony has the technical team equivalent to baboons. A company almost to the level of Samsung in offerings that was hacked, costing them trillions.

With encryption and certificates, you can't just willy nilly release a new passphrase and hope for the best. Especially if a previous encryption scheme was in place prior.
