Still never got an answer...after installing gateway on an N3DS, how do you get to the Gateway screen without constantly using the Cubic Ninja exploit?

Which CFW has screenshots? And how do I take screenshots with it?

I'm a gateway user looking to get into the CFW scene and I heard people talk about screenshots so I'm curious.

I tried looking in the release threads for pasta, rxmode and cake but I don't see anything about screenshots.

I reallý do not want to mess with my console and install Rxtools, and possibly brick my console, due to being a noob at it. Is there any chance Gateway will support GBA games in the future?

"Installing" rxTools requires you to copy 2 files from your computer and paste them on your 3DS' SD card... How can you mess that up and brick your console? Lmao

Seems pretty good to me, my FBI injection trick was a little different but I used a spanish tutorial video so... As long as you can properly inject FBI you are good to go, formting emunand and installing rxtools is really easy that you shouldn't have any issues.

I've recently bought a 3DSLL (Japanese version) with a gateway card. It came with
Synand 9.1.0-20J Emunand GW3D 9.1.0-20J

I was attempting to update my emunand to older version it via .cia method over BigBlueMenu and also direct installation from older roms. With the .cia method I reformatted the emunand via gateway boot mode and entered into bigbluemenu and did the L+R+A thing to install all the .cia files in the rom folder. I can see that the version is updated when I quit the big blue menu and checked systems settings. But when I restart and booted into gateway mode it gives me a black screen. I've waited for 10 minutes and it still doesn't revive. Need to do a physical power down.

then I wiped the emunand and started over. This time i did the up arrow thing and installed a more recent os from a game I had. (9.6.0-24J) After the install the machine powered down and when I did the boot gateway mode and it also gives me a black screen.

For both cases I have upgraded the NVRAM via blue card with 3.2.2 ultra update, also launcher.dat for 3.2.2 is copied to my internal SD card.

I was able to revert back to my original state (Synand 9.1.0-20J Emunand GW3D 9.1.0-20J) by simply reformat my emunand on my SD card.

Oh btw I have upgraded my internal SD to a 16GB transcend premium 200x SDHC card. Would that matter?

Please let me know if I did anything wrong.

You already have gateway right, this means you most likely already have emunand and unlinked nands.

Put rxTools.dat and firmware.bin into the root of your SD card, you can also put the 7.X key if you want to decrypt 7.X games (optional), then you can use Mset to launch rxTools by installing rxtoolsinstaller.ds with a flashcard if you are on 4.2 or go to launch.rxtools.net and will load rxTools up to 9.2. Is as easy as thay to "install rxTools", is just like launching gateway's launcher.dat doesn't need to install anything, just launch it.

To install games you need a CIA installer, you can use FBI or Big Blue Menu, to install BBM you need FBI, there are 2 ways I know to get FBI, 1) Inject it on your NAND or 2) You can use Cubic Ninja + Pasta CFW to use FBI without installing it on your NAND, I have a Sky3ds so I just used a cubic ninja rom in my flashcard instead of buying a copy of cubic ninja, don't know if you can do that with Gateway card.

There are noob friendly YouTube videos on how to do either of those and myself being a total noob not knowing what I was doing was able to follow tutorials without issue.

Once you have FBI, you can install Big Blue Menu so you can acces it from the main screen.

It sounds really complicated when you don't know it but it isn't really that complicated once you do it.

On the Gateway's files that you downloaded, there is a folder called bluecard, inside there is a file named gatewayinstaller.nds just put this inside a regular R4 card and run the file from your R4 like a normal game, follow a few prompts and it will automatically install the DS profile exploit for you.

Nooby question here but basically i used a code name steam cia to update my emuNAND above 9.0 but less than 9.8 (im using a N3DS btw)

EmuNAND mode no longer works and I definetly updated emuNAND NOT sysNAND and updated the launcher.dat also, any tips

I have a NA New 3DS XL running the latest firmware and I have a old 3ds running 9.6.

I want to run RegionFour to play Fire Emblem IF, and I prefer to play it on New 3ds. So I have to ask.

Will it work? (I have a copy of Cubic Ninja)

Will I be able to still connect to the E-Shop or get updates for other games or continue to play games online and run other system updates.

Will this brick my system?

Will I still be able to play the game if another firmware update comes out?

How do I install a Translation patch to my game?

Is Custom Firmware involved?

Do I have to pop in Cubic Ninja every time I want to play the JPN game?

1 yes it will work
2 yes you will be able to enter eshop but if a new frimeware comes out and it comes with a patched you will no longer can enter eshop (i readed there is a eshop frimeware spoof)
3 No there is no possible that your N3ds brick but who knows
4 if a new patch comes out and it patch reguionfour you will no longer can play if you update
5 You can´t patch a cartidge
6 No custom frimeware is not involved
7 yeah you need to pop cubic ninja every time

Let me tell you this buy a 4.3-9.2 old 3ds use rxtools and use custom frimeware so you can apply the patch or wait for fire emblem fates to come out on USA/EUR

You're running 9.6, so you cannot play FE If unless it's in cartridge form. You're on a non exploitable firmware

long time lurker here just diving into the magical world of gateway 3ds!

quick question: my 3DS has firmware 2.2.0-E and I know I need to be on 4.x to use Gateway. I've been trying to figure out, without success, whether I can do this upgrade without a retail cart. So far the only reference I have found is in the GBATemp wiki:

the relevant bit:

Using a game's ROM bundled with System update v4.5.0 and with Gateway v1.0 (which doesn't prevent the required System version checking). It works on System version v4.1.0 to v4.4.0.

my question is: can anyone give me more details on how to do this, or another method to upgrade the firmware? how do I know if my gateway has v1.0? Thank you

And here is where you are wrong, if he owns a Sky3ds card he can download the cubic ninja rom and use that as a regular cubic ninja game to use the exploit, then he can and use a out-of-region rom next to it and play it like a regular out of region game.
