I like the small details that the grass bends when Epona is running through it. This game has my intrest for sure!

And I think the maximum zoom out is still not the full map.
The edge of the map is black (like on the right of the map), so I guess it will scroll more to the other directions.

Edit:
Oh and as proof, there's no Lake.
In zelda, there's always specific maps : desert, lake, mountain, plains, etc.
if there were a towns or Hyrule Castle, they would be big and visible on the map. (as they are not "switching maps" anymore, but displaying towns like in WindWaker)

I hope making it a huge open world game does not ruin it, I tend to find open world games are overhyped and they tend to be bland for me.
A Zelda game has great potential to make it work though, since it has worked fantastically on a smaller scale in the past.

Some are speculating that it may be a remake of the very first LoZ game.

Game looks great. I've been waiting a long, long time to be able to play around in a colossal overworld in a Nintendo game. I'm interested in seeing if Nintendo can pull off a great, fun story for a non-linear title. I mean, A Link Between Worlds barely had any story. Just "hey, here's a bunch of dungeons. Finish them all and go beat the final boss."

Though from what I can see, Link is still wearing blue. Unless this is a hint of some kind of Four Swords-style co-op mode, This. Is. Not. OK.

Now I hope that in the next few years we get a game with the same kind of massive go-wherever-you-want world with a little more pipes, mushrooms and emphasis on platforming. If you catch my drift.

At least Just Cause 2 had a ton of crazy shenanigans to do. Every mission was unique from each other (not just "reskinned" missions like Far Cry 3 or Assassin's Creed), mechanics pushed for fun, crazy, flowing gameplay, and the world just generated stories. You can easily talk about how you were outrunning 5 cops, flew your car into a police helicopter, grappled the other helicopter, hijacked it, and flew away while gunning down all the remaining police. And that's a boring story for JC2.
yeah, im just talking about outside of the small villages, city, and enemy bases, there tons of jungle, desert, ocean, ect... and nothing to actually interact with or explore
fallout and tes did it right in that regard to a massive overworld map with lots of stuff to explore across it

I hope the world isn't too empty but even if it is, I don't really mind and I've always found Zelda games worlds to be a bit barren and they've still been awesome. Better than having tonnes of useless NPCs.

I wouldn't mind the actual plot being a bit expansive though.

But you forget that Fallout/TES is full of dead space. Skyrim is reskinned quests galore. Nearly every quest is "go to a dungeon, kill draugr, get reward" except it has a poorly written story narrated by bad voice acting behind it.

Plus I think Just Cause falls under a different category than Fallout or TES. Just Cause is just about doing crazy shit. It's power fantasy, like GTA or Saints Row. Shit you wish you could do in real life. Fallout and TES are about building stats and investing points into things and watching your little level meter go up and down over time. It's not really power fantasy, it just gives you the satisfaction of progression.

I agree that Just Cause is a bit lifeless at times, but the game is made to generate crazy bullshit and shenanigans, and for what JC2 was years ago, it's pretty damn great.

Ubisoft is still fumbling with open world and leaving us with various far cry titles and watch dogs.

Nintendo has not really done open world in a real way before and from what I see there I am not sure it is not going to be one of those overextension things. I will also have to have a look to see what its competition, both earlier in the year and around the time of release, will be. I can see them approaching things a slightly different way and managing to get something done, however that would be a shock for modern Nintendo to pull off.

Mind you if the Wii gets hacked then it could make for a decent engine to play with.

If so, then wow. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but he did say the end of the map. Not the end of the world.

This development version they are showing has some features that haven't been in any Zelda yet. It is likely they won't be in the final version.
-Life/magic meter: Don't display when full. I would be really surprised if they're going in the direction of "no life meter, ever" as in Dead Space.
-Don't display controls.

Nintendo should hire an actor to voice Link and so on.

Wonder if there will be a special edition bundle. Should I wait 'til then or should I get a Wii U right now...?
Wind Waker HD got one but it was kinda disappointing:

The console itself didn't have a Zeldaverse theme but instead, it's just a Premium Wii U and that's it, they did however make the GamePad a little Zelda-fied.
