Actually, now that I think about it. With the SD Reader, it'll be EASILY messed with. I think Nintendo putting that in there was a huge mistake.

It will be hacked before Summer 2007. The top console always gets the modchip first. and by the looks of the hype, the Wii will take a big chunk of the market pretty fast. I'm here in Mexico and pre-orders are already gone, and the console costs $400 bucks and will raise to $500 due to high demand. Nothing lke that has happened since Super Mario Bros 3 back in the day. In the end, mod chips help sell hardware since mostly hardcore gamers get modchips and those guys are the cheapest bastards ever who wouldn't buy the thing to pay for software, but think about it, Nintendo says the DS software sales get a 5% hit due to piracy but their portable console sells like crazy...

Yes, when there's a will there's a way

Like Gaisuto says, some talented hacker may end up hacking the Wii so that you can run ISOs off the SD cards. You can go as high as 8GB with them now after all. Or maybe they'll go for a soldered chip and run off actual discs like the PS2.

In the time before I finally put a modchip in my GC, I bought quite a lot of GC games. It might happen again with the Wii but if the ISO's that are being released are 8gb then I'll be buying games for a while.

Bah.. companies don't lose much revenue through piracy. I have the impression that the ones who download stuff (me) aren't potential customers anyway (I'm often not). Many (not everyone) even buy the stuff they like.

I hope they pirate they wiimote though, and the nu-chuk, because they're damn expensive

I am all for find a "solution" but nintendo has won back my heart with the DSL and the Wii so i think it proper to give them some of my hard earned income. I support things i like and also on that note i am raffling of a Wii this november. The procedes goto make a wish foundation so if anyone wants to get in on it or even donate some goods, money, or services you should locally or nationally, however you can.

Nothing is hack proof. Nothing.

Except maybe the DS Opera browser :/

Not true. It's hackable. The program itself would need to be altered to allow memory card use with a slot-2 solution or something else in slot-2. The reason it's not hacked is that there is no real reason to hack it. Who wants to spend the amount of time required when writing or compiling a browser from scratch would be easier with the homebrew scene in mind.

i think wii hacking will be made wvery difficult because nintendo knows about hacked ds so if you try to connet hacked ds into wii it will be bricked or something or it doesnt play "altered firmware" and also wii have all technics to make it hard to not play backups and stuff. i think. nintendo has seen so much piratism and i guess they have smartests engineers and chackers working for them to make wii unhackable. they can do it if they want to. my frend told me about game that was in c-64 (ancient pre-console) that was never cracked. original unprotected copy waas steolen from makers and that was spread but never the protetected one because it had so many protection checks. why not make lots of protetiction checks that trigger each other in code and not make just simple one check. then there is challange and people get down like with that opera broser with ds and dont want to hack and buy games

hahahaha... Imagine that! I bought a madcat gamecube controller once, and worked like shit and felt bad compared to originals. Imagine third party wiimotes AND PIRATE WIIMOTES!! it willl probably give carpal tunnel or something!
