Well, here's what I got from Exterms on #mplayer_ce
IRC said:
<Maxternal> Hey, anyone know what argument could be used to make mplayer ce directly load a playlist file (hopefully usable from WiiFlow)? ... or where to look it up
<Extrems> Either nothing special or -playlist.
<Extrems> Maxternal?
<Maxternal> ok, I'll have to give it a try, thanks
<Extrems> You can also build a playlist by passing multiple file paths.
<Maxternal> o'rly? ... that could also do the trick ... I'll see what exactly I can work into a WiiFlow plugin INI file
It's not exactly the most definite answer but it might be a starting point.

I wonder if it just happens to take the same args as the original Linux program ... and I wonder where to look that up ...

EDIT : confirmed that the args are the same ... I'm guessing that can be found somewhere in here http://www.mplayerhq.hu/

Hello all,

After having our Wii softmodded and running CFG USB Loader for the last couple of years, I decided I wanted to start fresh and give WiiFlow a try... it looks fantastic graphically and I really like that.

I re-wrote the original clean NAND to our Wii, basically starting from scratch with the Softmod.

I used ModMii to do the softmod (Your basic HackMii, PriiLoader job along with all of the CIOS/IOS that ModMii instructed me to install) choosing WiiFlow as my USB loader of choice. Everything works great, but for some reason WiiFlow freezes at random... you'll just be browsing through the games (about 200 on my USB HD) and it will just suddenly lock up and requires a hard power-off (holding the power button for 5 seconds).

Again, the Wii is freshly softmodded and running 4.3U. The USB HD is a 1.5TB Hitachi formatted with a single FAT32 partition.

Is there a certain IOS that WiiFlow runs best under or something?

Forgive me if I sound noobish, I sort of lost touch with the Wii scene a couple of years ago but am trying to remember everything. :)

From personal experience, first you'll want to make sure it's actually locking up. Sometimes it will "stick" for a minute or two during some one-time tasks, and then un-stick. The main culprit for me is banner extraction, which seems to happen as you browse the games rather than all at once. If that's the case for you, then it should clear up once all your banners have been viewed and cached.

There might be some creative way to get around it (like what I do with dummy files on the devolution plugin, for example) ... what exactly does the INI file look like for that plugin and what are the files named?

EDIT : I haven't looked at the INI file but if, for example, the filetypes= and arguments= lines were something like

filetypes=.zip
arguments={device}:/{path}/{name}

and this particular ROM was

sd:/ROMS/filename.zip

and always had to have that name, you could create a dummy file (0 byte file) with the desired name in a subfolder with the same name as the ROM (without the extension) so you'd end up with

sd:/ROMS/filename.zip
AND
sd:/ROMS/filename/game-name.name

and change the INI file so that it says

filetypes=.name
arguments={device}:/{path}.zip

and so that way filename.zip would then show up in WiiFlow as game-name (with the right cover, too, as long as you renamed the cover file from filename.zip.png TO game-name.name.png) ;)

You just blew my mind.
Thanks

If it happens at the same position when scrolling through the game list you may have a corrupt image/cache. If it is random try attaching the hard disk to your PC and doing a directory scan/fix on it. Sometimes it will find and fix a bad directory which can cause Wiiflow fits for some reason.

I have what seems like a good idea. Would it be possible to have each plugin cycle through only coverflows specified in the ini.

The number of coverflows differs from theme to theme, and it's a bit of a hassle to flip through coverflows for other emulators to get to the next one for the present plugin. That is, I don't want to have to flip through square and vertical coverflows to find the next flow for N64.

As it is now, we can have each plugin default to X coverflow when it is selected. What I propose is that we be able to list which flows we want it to skip to next.

So it would be something like
Carbonik=1,3,5,7,

It would start on 1, skip to 3,5 and 7, then cycle back to 1.

EDIT: I just found a bug with Source Flow. With it on, B- device switching seems broken in a weird way. It will show as if it were on the next device, but show titles from the previous device. (I have N64 games on SD only. I hit B- and it still showed the games, but it said USB1 up at the top. Launching a game now, obviously fails.)

When you back out after switching devices, and go back into said plugin, it correctly shows what is (or isn't) on there. However you are only able to cycle to the next device one at a time. (If SD and partitioned HDD, then you can only go to USB1 from SD, and have to back out and select the plugin again to go from USB1 to USB2, etc.
are you using r1008 and higher?

have you tried reload cache after you switch partition?
And magically when I try to recreate the issue for a video, it works fine now. Must have changed something since I updated last. Nevermind I guess. Next time I know to have my camera at the ready. But about that coverflow cycling...

Just a quick wondering, has it been discussed to add an edit feature to the explorer? This would especially be handy for themers who could edit their theme on the fly instead of going back and forth between wii and computer.

It's extremely easy to edit themes with the ftp server. just connect from your pc and edit the ini or change pngs and then reboot wiiflow by holding b and pressing home twice and like magic your theme is updated.

    @AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

    Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

    This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
    I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
    I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
    I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150 :unsure:
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
