I have been enjoying Metal Slug 1-5 on my PSP this past week. It got me into researching the games a bit more, playing around with developer stages, toying with cheats, hacks, etc. The more I toyed with it the less people I found who were interested in Metal Slug. So, I wanted to ask the community, which Metal Slug is your favorite?

I think my favorite is Metal Slug 3 for the MVS. It was the first game to introduce branching paths, which increased the replay value. I really like the zombie aspect of this game. I like how the zombies move, how they can infect people around them, and how they can infect you. While being a zombie means moving slowly, it gives you a more powerful "bomb" attack, which makes it not only interesting but rather fun to get infected. Besides the fun underwater and flying stages, this game also offered some great new vehicles. One of which is the Elephant Slug which can be found hidden in an ice cave.

What Metal Slug game do you like, and why?

Lovely~Loved the Metal Slug Anthology for Wii

I have to say Metal Slug 3 is also MY Metal Slug. It was beyond a different MS from the rest and one I played almost last (I randomly selected one).
It has an odd attractive atmosphere within the game and one to definitely co-op with! Loved the idea of having zombies and aliens mixed in.
Had a hard time on the last level which was just cool...don't wanna spoiler.

So yes, Metal Slug 3 is the coolest one I've played and replayed many times before.

I liked Metal Slug X the most, probably because it was the first one I played while at a subterranian arcade in China. Also, nazis and aliens.

i voted metalslug3 as well.

i love the graphic style of the series. cracks me up how the soldiers get freaked out when you re-spawn from dieing.
while im posting i wanted to give props to In The Hunt (unofficially dubbed as MetalSub), a game made by the team that went on to make metalslug.

1st Mission for me, the first I remember playing and I loved how they did something a little different to match the platform limitations.

Of the main series then hell yeah 3 was the best of those games.

I enjoy most of them but 3D, Advance, 6 & 7 do nothing for me (7 is the easiest), obviously they were done by totally different teams who didn't tune their games in a way so they were just right.

I've played a bit of a few of them, but nothing too much.

I do remember playing a lot of the online Flash ripoffs when I was younger, though I don't think that counts.
