I think it is relevant that when adding games to the compability list you should post details like the method of creating the backup and the type of card you are using(brand + class). For example I've seen games with rev"X" marked as not working but the game works on my end. I think the more specific we are, the better the information we research.

DML is able to load gamecube ISO's from the SD card on the Wii yes? I am so impressed, I was told that loading GameCube ISO's from anything but the drive would and could never happen!

I know gamecube game's cant be directly loaded from USB, but could DML eventually be used to allow a loader to list the games on a USB drive, then cache and boot the game from SD card? too slow? slow but possible?

This is some exciting stuff. I did not see Zelda Windwaker US on the list for compatible games, but the other regions were and said to be working so I may give this a shot since that is the only game that I care to play on the GC and have yet to play it. We sold our GC before I had a chance to play this game and now that I am going through the Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, it would be nice to go back and play the others I missed. Thanks to all the developers working on this.

You were misinformed. The WODE can do that for years (march 2009, apparently), and I've been using swiss for at least half a year (and it existed even longer under a different name).
The only thing that's new is that you don't need extra hardware for it (and even then...the main new thing is the public release and support).

As for your other question...no. If the wii had even a fraction of the memory required to cache an entire GC game, it would be relatively easy to instead use that memory to add USB support. I suppose a loader could indeed be made to list GC games on an USB drive. Then, when you select a game, copy it to your SD card (assuming there is sufficient free space) and then launc the copied game with DML. But if wiixplorer's copy-capabilities are any indication, that means the difference between clicking to start a game and actually starting the game can be quite long (5 to 15 minutes?).

That is exactly what he suggested. He never mentioned caching to memory ;)

I was watching WiiGetItDone's video today and there is a step that I consider could be easier.(not very different in fact)

In the step of converting the iso to disc ex (at 2:35) he first convert the iso, then browse the created folder, rename the iso inside, open the iso, shrink it and then create a new iso and delete the previous one.

What I do is create the iso with cleanrip, then I shrink this iso(same way like in the video) and disc ex it. The created folder will be already shrinked. It not so much different than the procedure in the video but it might be a little easier I think for those people that don't want to browse the folder contents.

Tried another iso to make sure. Neogamma still won't find it. Here's what I did in my PC and Wii.

stepsf.png

Moved the iso to DiscEX folder and then converted the file. Got the Game ID folder, renamed the game.iso to Unshrinked.iso, added it to the GCMUtility program, named the file game.iso again, replaced the iso file in the Game ID folder (You can notice that the size is smaller), put that folder in the games folder (SD Card root), Created the wad and put it in the wad folder.

In my wii, I used wad manager 1.5 to install it, and then boot neogamma. In the neogamma screen, when I press A to load GC games via DML, it shows the "No games found" message.

Not quite (maybe in future releases). For postloader 3.54.1 (and a couple version numbers below), you'll have to go to the Game mode, then choose Game options, then "Show DML menu".

EDIT: ...that was at Ssx9. :)

...And nothing. I'll try to do what terro said.

Should I reinstall DML wad too?
I don't think it will change something, but you can try it out. I don't think what AbdallahTerro said will help... Do you just have one FAT32 partition?
No, I can test it with other 2 partitions.

And I can't uninstall the wad, weird.

Maybe my wii's just effed up.

It needs to be one partition only on the SD Card. Yeah you shouldn't be able to uninstall it that's normal.

Sorry for the confusion, leave it. If somebody reports that it messed up his sd card, then take it down of course, but that shouldn't happen.

Ok, will do.

If crediar wanted a say in the name he should have open sourced the code himself. Did he? No, he sold it.

If you wanted a say in the name you should have written the code. Call it whatever you want but it just makes you look like an ass.

I could care less what it's called..I don't even use this. However it's not his code anymore cuz he chose to sell the code instead of open source it himself. Not sure how I look like an ass for trying to make a point.

Perhaps not, but you do look like an ass for using a phrase that makes no sense: "I could care less..." - you could care less? That means that you do care about it. The correct phrase would be "I couldn't care less...", meaning there is no way you could care less about it i.e. you do not care about it.
I hate it when people say that. According to Shano56, he could devote his entire existence to caring what it's called.

why do you even care if someone does not say the correct grammar noone is perfect not even you. sorry if i offend anyone

well, grammar nazis xD

since its on everyones mind including mine...what are the chances of this getting ISO support? I hate discex format. please tell me its possible.

I tried zelda collectors edition in its original dump iso format, just renamed to game.iso and copied to /games/PZLE01 or whatever name of a folder you want (PZLE01 is de ID of that game but if its changed to something like OXKR98 it works also as long as it has 4 letters and 2 digits)
I dont know if loading other games (without discex format) breaks anything "BE WARNED". For me this iso loads perfect with the latest DMLr19.

Thats nice, try some more games, maybe discex isnt needed at all, other than for compression.

Just wondering, but would switching to DML from Swiss fix the audio skipping issues (and GBA link instability) that I have been having with Wind Waker and Swiss? I assume the audio/linking issues are from the slow speed of the SD adapter which the front SD slot wouldn't have?

As stated above, they should both have the same level of emulation, the front sd acts the same as the sd gecko, i dont see a huge difference between them.

Shouldn't the front SD slot be faster than the SD Gecko interface or does DML cripple the front SD slot speed?

I suppose the problem is how the data is read, it may takes more memory to use DML from front SD.

postLoader doesn't need dml to browse games on sd. Does postloader see apps on sd in homebrew mode ? Also have the iso the game name inside at offset 0x20 ?
