Wait. What exactly is CDMA? I have a iPhone 4, with AT&T running 4.3. Can I JB it? Or do I have to wait?
CMDA is a broadcasting protocal by cellular companies such as Verizon or Sprint. Other companies such as T-Mobile or AT&T use the GSM protocol. As far as I can tell, I believe your GSM iPhone 4 from AT&T is jailbreakable.

I keep getting error 14 when I try to restore a custom ipsw for the Apple TV 2g. I used iREB, and I updated to latest firmware before doing so.
I've tried changing the usb port (although that probably isn't the problem, since it restored to a normal ipsw).
It's an ipsw that I made with Sn0wbreeze 2.5. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Is there a chance that the Apple TV isn't in DFU Mode? When you plug it in without a power source, it goes into Recovery Mode, not DFU Mode. (I'm not too familiar with the Apple TV, sorry.)

Alternatively, you could try using the newest version of Seas0nPass (which is untethered now!).

^ Thanks, Seas0nPass worked. I think I didn't enter DFU mode properly before... It's a bit harder then on an iDevice

redsn0w 0.9.6rc10, and a quickly-following 0.9.6rc11, have been released. They fix any oddities in Settings (e.g.- if the Side Switch behavior option appears on an iPhone), and also lets you install custom boot animations (a la greenpois0n). This can be run over jailbroken installations of 4.3(.1), just make sure Cydia doesn't get reinstalled.

UPDATE: redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 was released a day or two ago, and should fix any more issues from boot animations. In addition, ultrasn0w 1.2.1 has been released, for compatibility with iOS 4.3.x. (I'll remove the patch instructions another time; I'm not in the mood to update the guide right now.)

UPDATE 2: Updated the PwnageTool video to be a bit more modern. I hope you guys like it.

Ok so I have an iPad (1) 4.2.1 and I want to update with the untethered 4.3.1...

Do I have to update the ipad to 4.3.1 officially through iTune first?

I would use RedSn0w... says I need to download the 4.3.1 IPSW which I did... do I use that ipsw to update the ipad? (and how do I do it?) or do I simply update the ipad officially and then run redsnow?

Will I loose all the stuff I installed on it doing so? (lotsa [Redacted] games and my saved games)

Thanks!

You have one of two options: restore to a custom IPSW (you must enter "pwned" DFU Mode first with iBooty or redsn0w), or update/restore to stock 4.3.1 and use redsn0w. I always restore when updating a jailbroken setup; I feel it ensures that there will be no issues. (Of course, I manually back up some of my data beforehand. ;P)

------------------------------------------------------------------

In other news, many sites have been talking about a new, *paid* (around $170 USD!) GSM iPhone unlock that is independent of (baseband) firmware updates or its jailbreak status. It's true, but keep your eyes peeled for scams that may be around! The only trustworthy sites that I know of are http://negrielectronics.com/apple-iphone-u...t-solution.html and http://www.cutyoursim.com/. (These unlocks work by sharing your IMEI, which may raise some privacy concerns. The IMEI is then entered into Apple's database that notes which phones are unlocked.) There is a possibility of Apple putting an end to this (by removing IMEIs and/or blocking the people behind the IMEI adding), so safety is still not guaranteed yet. I may or may not update the guide with this information.

Thanks, I simply updated... downloaded that IPSW from the phone wiki mentioned in the Redsnow tuto, and in iTune I held SHIFT key and press Update in itune and then selected the downloaded IPSW... updated the ipad... then used Redsnow, installed cydia (it kept all the links I added) installed [Redacted] (it kept all my download queue) and everything is fine! Yay!

Glad the guide helped you and all.... But one thing.

Please refrain from mentioning piracy-related programs in the guide.
We do not support piracy. If you do, go have fun, give yourself selfpoatoes(joke you probably won't understand as it's inside), but don't dirty the guide with it.

We're happy we helped you jailbreak and we understand what you do with your jailbreak is out of our control and not our business, but this guide is in our control. So, please, just for the next time don't talk about it.

We even have mentioned it in the bottom of the guide.

Thanks!

Well I was carefull... I didnt asked what it do or how to install it, my question was simply if I'll lose anything, and how to update.

But it's cool if you feel its too explicit Piracy-wise feel free to delete my post I'm cool with it ;-)

That won't be needed.
But you did mention the program.

Oh well. C'est la vie I guess

Hmm... I'm not sure what's at fault here.

Could you try out sn0wbreeze 1.5.1 to see if that works?

If you're still having trouble jailbreaking, you could try to restore to stock 3.1.3, and use Star.

------------------------------------------------------------------

4/14 UPDATE: iOS 4.3.2 is out. The usual applies: don't update if you want a jailbreak or unlock.

(I really don't think that Rebel SIM or the unlock service I mentioned before is blocked, seeing as 4.3.2 was released far too soon for Apple to have done actual testing with those unlock methods. Rebel SIM is a new SIM card-based unlock that is legal and works with newer basebands.)

The Rebel SIM probably works like the Turbo SIM cards from long ago, which tricked the iPhone into thinking that the inserted SIM card was valid. To my knowledge, it has no legal issues.

I should add that the current version of redsn0w can perform a tethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.2; just point it to the IPSW for iOS 4.3.1 on your device. I'm not updating the guide for this yet, because there's actually a possibility that i0n1c's untethering exploit works on 4.3.2.

None of MuscleNerd's tweets say that. (Unless he deleted one, that is.) He did tell people using ultrasn0w to stay away from it, though (since there's no safe route for them just yet).

As an update on the jailbreak status of iOS 4.3.2: Apple did not patch i0n1c's exploit. It turns out Apple built iOS 4.3.2 the day before i0n1c's work was released. (Talk about a coincidence!) However, i0n1c's exploit does have to be rebuilt for 4.3.2, and he won't be able to for the next few days. There is no ETA for this; do not inquire about it.

Hey, I just an iPhone 4 with 4.3 on it. I tried using redsn0w but Cydia continually crashes on me. I can only get it to work if I tether it... I thought you could do it untethered?

Also is there anyway to update my iPhone to 4.3.1 without using iTunes?

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
