One additional improvement idea: on game info screen, wouldn't it be useful to add the information about which types controllers are supported (Nunchuck, Classic Controller, Gamecube Controller, Balance Board, etc).

Once again, what do you think?

Apparently that information is already contained in wiitdb.xml file already used by the loader:

A second question: For installing the new forwarder channel (v8) it suffices delete the earlier version with Wii system menu and installing it with Wad Manager?

Thx for your response.
Yes, that's enough.

@All:

Please re-download the forwarder, I used some old libs, now the forwarder should be faster, thanks.

there are difference uninstalling using system menù vs- wad manager??

tnx

I have had a few instance in the past week of when I launch CFG USB Loader 62-222 none of my Wii Mote will activate. Only option is to shut down Wii, Restart loader and all is well. What should I look for?

Had a similar issue.

Up to 61-222 I had absolutely no problems, quick flash of blue in the disc slot then quickly loaded, no problems with remotes.
Since 62-222 (and as I recall the 62 betas) sometimes getting longer blue led from disc slot, occasionally get 2 long flashes, slow to start loader then when the loader does start the remotes don't synch and I have to press the restart button on the wii to get back to system menu.

However, if I go through hbc and wait for internet connection to initialize before launching, then it seems ok(could be purely coincidental i know)
If I then exit to system menu and launch the loader via forwarder it seems to run fine.

I'm using the DCFG forwarder, boot.dol is on my sd card (as is usb loader folder - nothing apart from wbfs folder on ext hdd), ios222v4 to run loader, and hbc 1.08 running on ios58
I have ciosx 21 installed but I've always used hermes v4 for configurable usb loader. Ext hdd is fat 32. Wii is on 4.1E

Not yet tried 63 release and up yet.

If I go back to 61-222 everything works problem free and fast.
Hope the info is of some use to maybe finding the issue.

The fact is that you don't need to uninstall the previous version, as WAD Manager it will overwrite by default. I did it several times already.

I never tried it, but I suppose that this can be accomplished with install button (usually '+')...

We know that info is in wiitdb, we already use that for sorting and filtering.
I could add it to the game info... where to put that? before or after the description?
what other info should we display there?

Something like this...

cfgusbloader.jpg

Maybe moving up a bit the cover (as you still seem to have free space there) should give you enough space to add this info, maybe with the possibility of scrolling right (in case no space exists for all the icons).

Adding the PEGI icon to the right hand side of the game name, code and size would also be more appealing than writing it, no?

Have any of you tried v63-compat.dol ?

I have now you suggested it

Thank you for your reply btw

Initially v63-compat.dol seemed to work ok, albeit under ios249. It loaded fine and the remotes synched. I was getting hopeful but from the 5th try onwards it failed to mount my drive with the message 'device is not reponding'

Waiting 90 seconds returns 'ret-1'

Powering down/unplugging and reconnecting the device did not work. Powering down the wii didn't make any difference. I guess it would have if I'd left it long enough but who wants to muck about like that to load a game
biggrin.gif

The only way I managed to get it to work was by reloading to ios222 and pressing 2. This however did the same as I described in v62,ie/ long time loading then when it does load the remote isn't synched-

I had to restart the wii back to system menu, then go via hbc to load config usb loader. Loader then loaded properly, drive mounted properly, remotes synched properly.
Going back to system menu and loading via the forwarder then worked (as it had with v62).

Going back to v61-222 gives me none of these issues at all.

Drive is a Seagate Freeagent Desk 320GB formatted entirely to FAT32 for sole use with configurable usb loader, spin down is disabled. No problems unless I use v62 onwards.

It's not the end of the world obviously because I can either load via hbc if it plays up (bit of a faff) or just stick with v61-222. It would be nice to be able to use the latest versions though.
I did wonder if it was some weird issue with hbc 1.08 conflicting with the latest versions ( as loader seems to work fine if i wait for hbc to initialize internet) but that's just speculation on my part, I really have no idea- all I know is if I use v61 i don't have any issue.

Thank you again for your reply and for a great loader (even if I have to use the slightly less shiny new version)

jesquinas: please don't quote so many levels of previous posts

pplucky: using images is not an option for the moment.

gsaz: sounds like your setup is cursed then

btw

many themes have an overlay including button pic and standard text
A = Start Game
B = Back

If you change the buttons, all those themes are wrong
would it not make sense to use the (already translated) variables to position text in themes
so you will get correct button hints independent how you changed them for yourself and also you get them in the language of your wii...

What would you guess?
You can try it out and see.
And you can make it whatever by using meta.xml ios= argument

Well, not being able to put images looses a bit of impact, but at least a text could be added on the right hand side before the description of the game, saying which controllers are required and which ones are possible but not required.

That should not be an issue, considering that in the current version, it is already possible to page down the description of the game...
What do you think?

I can add the info in the same block of text that contains the developer, rating, number of players and the game description, whole of this is scrollable yes.
Now I'm asking if this should be above or below the game description and if we want to see some other wiitdb info there too?

I would say before the game description - between this and the the block of text that contains the developer, rating, number of players and the game description.

From what I saw in the wiitdb.xml, this would be the most important thing you would need to know before you start a game...
