hm - found this in a readme file for NeoGamma r8 Beta. It seems whatever cIOS the user chooses - they get butt hurt:

Rev 15:
- Not compatible with the disc channel(rebooter)
- Not compatible with NeoGamma

Rev 14:
- Not compatible with dual layer games, Super Smash Brothers Brawl DVD9 version is affected, DVD5 version works
- Some accessories don't work
- Maybe not compatible with some HDD enclosures that work on rev9/10 (issue with one of these would be: can't get HDD detected or can't start any games)
- Maybe not compatible with HDDs that spin down(only 1 report), but all other cIOS from Waninkoko are affected by this as well, issues are freezes in the middle of games
- Maybe muliplayer issues (strange reports, works for some people and for others it doesn't)

Rev 13a:
- Plays most if not all games(but some accessories don't work)
- Improper 001 handling(main.dol patch)
- Improper patch to play games from usb without disc
- cIOS is not compatible with the disc channel.

Just use r16 and be grateful that it works at all.

I have yet to run into compatibility issues with NeoGamma, USB loaders, etc.
Worst case, one or two broken games might have to be started w/a different loader and Hermes' IOS 222/223. I haven't had that issue, myself, but it isn't the hassle some play it up to be. Some people -really- seem to get babied by the disc channel, sheesh.

i still use rev 14, got problems with neo gamma with rev 15 and 16

with some game patching, you'll have a wide selection of compatability

Rev 16 to me is the best.

Could you enlighten us? Seriously, rev16's only advantage is the BCA code that is only needed for one game, and that one game is playable with a patch on most of the other cIOS.

I'd say Rev 14 or Rev 13.

Rev 14 if you need NAND emulation, Rev 13 if you don't. Rev 15 is a pain and I haven't even bothered with Rev 16.

I say rev 14 if you dont use dual layer discs or rev 15 if you do use dual layer discs
also there is a neogamma mod version that supports rev 15 i've tried it and so far havent got any 001 errors
i dont advise rev 16 because there's 001 errors dual layer arent supported and the neogamma mod doesnt support rev 16 and triiforce dosent work with rev 16 (from what i heard about triiforce)
so overall i advise 14 or 15 depending on what you need

general votes are for rev14 and i agree as well. it is the best as of right now, but you really need 249, 222, and 223 to get full experience and they compliment each other. what 249 lacks 222 and 223 picks up and where hermes lacks 249 picks up (ok, maybe only for NAND emulation...). I use 249 for everything, hermes ios's when necessary
