Is it possible to store covers on the hd itself? This would definitely save room on the SD card.

maybe Usb:wbfs/covers
Yes, but the loader must also be on the USB drive for it to work. Just copy everything loader related from the root of the SD card to the root of the USB and it should work, unless you are using the old forwarder channel (in which case, just upgrade it).

Ok, so other than needing to make sure my current forwarder channel is "(Universal) Forwarder Channel: (by Narolez)" (in order to run the dol off the USB) if my HDD is just 1 big WBFS partition, how do I copy the stuff off the SD card and onto the root of the HDD ?

You need to have a FAT partition on your USB HDD and a WBFS partition, or now that CFG USB Loader supports playing games from FAT you can have 1 large FAT partition with an wbfsfolder for the games, a usb loader folder for the application and an apps folder for the loader itself.

Also, when running off the WBFS partition ... does the "update" functionality still work ?
Yes it does.

I have submitted a issue in google code project of this great usb loader....

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Put your wbfs file in sd:\wbfs\
2. Start Configurable Loader
3. Important no USB storage device inserted

What is the expected output?

The program show the game (readed from the sd card (sd:\wbfs\)

What do you see instead?
The program not read the file and show the messaege errore ret -1
no USB storage device in usb0

What version of the product are you using?
I have tried with cfg46-fat.dol and cfg47b2-fat.dol

On what operating system?

Wii with firmware 4.0e
cIOS 249 rev14
cIOS 222 rev4 -- installed with option ios38 (default)
cIOS 223 rev4 -- installed with option ios38 merge ios37
HBC, DVDX

Please provide any additional information below.

I have tried to put the same wbfs folder of the sd card in a usb device (8
gb), and the program show the game correctly, and the game start proprely.

It's possible to fix it???

PS: Thanks for your hard work with this homebrew.

This is because you didn't read the numerous posts where people have asked and had answered the same question. This loader only supports FAT from USB. If you're loading from an SD card, it MUST be formatted to WBFS, not simply FAT with a wbfs directory.

When i try to run the wbfs file 1.5 program it opens real quick and then just closes.Same thing happens if i right click and try to run as admin also.

It will work if i drag the iso file onto the .exe but i would like to convert all my games at once.

How can i do this?

It is not strange that it opens real quick and then just closes. It's a DOS application...

To use it open the DOS terminal and give the proper commands... type "wbfs_file -h" for the help

It's NOT a DOS application, it's a COMMAND LINE application. DOS and the command line are different things.

This was exactly what I wanted to say... sorry if I used wrong words.... I know the difference between command line apps and OSes...

Silly inquiry -- but how do I choose the ©IOS want to install things on? Right now most (if not all) games are installed/ripped using 249, but I can't choose anything other than that, should I be able to and how can I?

I tried using channel forwarders provided in the thread to run the loader from but they all hang after choosing 'Start' from the system menu. the cfg usb loader works fine through HBC. is there a work-around or fix for this.

I've found that especially with DL games like SSBB, the FAT32 filesystem is much slower than WBFS. Loading takes noticeably (though not unbearably) longer.

Is this a known issue?

Well you've said 'much slower', 'noticeably longer' and 'not unbearably longer'. Just a tad bit ambiguous, no? I think most of the comments have been along the lines of 'no difference', or at worst, 'slightly noticeable'. Do some benchmarks.

I noticed that in the THEMES folder, there are a variety of themes.

How do I set up Configurable USB Loader so I am able to switch between the themes whilst on the Wii?

I second this question. If I were to make the switch to FAT USB game loading, I would need support for game channels that could load from those .wbfs files on the FAT partition. Like currently how Loadstructor makes game channels for games on an WBFS partition.
It's possible, just no one has taken advantage of it yet. The Confirgurable USB Loader supports passing on the gameid to the loader itself, which means a forwarder could be made that autoboots a game from FAT. I'm in the same boat as you...I'd probably switch as well if someone made something such as this.

You want to change the ios option in config.txt. "ios=222-mload" will get you Hermes' IOS222 for ripping, as well as being the default value for all games that you haven't saved options for.

Can anybody help with Ghostbusters and rev14? I can't seem to play it reliably. I always get stuck on the safety screen. Once in a while, I can get in, but if I do a software reset or go back to the System Menu, it doesn't work a second time. I've checked that I have rev14, which supposedly includes a reboot fix. Another thing I've noticed is, if I go to the settings page, and try to play it, it freezes, even if I haven't edited the settings.
I'd say it's probably a bad burn. You could try IOS222/223, though.
Cleary, it's not a bad burn, because I'm playing it off USB. I've tried 3 different ISOs, including NTSC and PAL. It's a problem with the loaders or the CIOS and no one seems to care. I have the same problem with GX. In fact, the DVD works fine with Cioscorp, but the loaders cannot play the game with a hard reset. I've tried 222/223, rev13a and rev14. All have the same results. Again, it looks logical that it's a loader issue, because if I just look at the settings screen for the game, it fails to start, but if I simply start it with saved settings, it works the first time only.

wbfs_file 1.5
wbfs_file_1.5.zip
Included binaries for windows, linux and macosx and sources.

Hello

Is it normal that if I convert a scrubbed iso to wbfs then convert it back to iso the two iso are differents (binary comparison).
I just want to be sure that I won't lose anything if I keep my backups as wbfs files and I will still be able to burn them later.

Thank you for your help
