I've got it to work through a disc loader.

Install this wad.
http://rapidshare.com/files/272838683/IOS5...-v5146.wad.html

Download and run multicios, and install IOS 37 as IOS 232.
http://rapidshare.com/files/272876067/multicios.zip

Download and run SoftChip, make sure to use IOS 232 and make sure the 002 Fix is enabled.
http://rapidshare.com/files/272875815/SoftChip.zip

Turn it up to 11 and rock out!

I can confirm that this works for DISC loading!

For Multicios, Install 37 with 37 as IOS 232. IF you get an error, try again. I got 2 errors before it worked.

Softmod WON'T read the disc unless you have IOS 232 selected, and yes enable the 002 fix.

THANKS ULJOE!

I just registered to GBAtemp to say thank to u both LOL, that worked just fine for me.

Just tried this...works a treat!!
Cheers guys!
must emphasise : For Multicios, Install 37 with 37 as IOS 232.

First I would like to thank all those who contribute to this thread. Today I updated to the latest version of USBLoader_GX. Since the update, Guitar Hero 5 freezes on a black screen immediately after selecting it. Before updating today, Guitar Hero 5 was working using Hermes 222 and USBLoader_GX as per this thread. Any ideas other than reverting to a previous version? Thanks!

devinslu: i just updated and do not have that issue. usbloader gx 741, hermes v3, global settings to 222, 002 to anti per instructions in thread.

i do notice that many, many of the songs stutter and get lagged in gameplay. (usb harddrive, haven't tried via disc). not sure if anybody else experiences this with the game functioning or not...

If you start to nav the menus with a controller, it thinks you want to be the singer so asks you to insert a mic.

Sounds like you got the game working. Go out and buy a guitar/drums

Oke, I have done this:
Remove all GameCube memory cards and controllers.
This step is very important. Do not ignore it .
UnRAR uloader_v3.0B.rar and copy the apps/cios_installer/ directory to sd:/apps/
Start HomeBrew Channel and start the cIOS 222 Installer
Read the warning message and push A
Select IOS249 to perform the install with D-pad left/right and push A
Select to Install Custom IOS 222 and select IOS37 merged with IOS38
Wait for download and installation to complete
Start HomeBrew Channel and start the cIOS 222 Installer again
This time select Custom IOS 223 and select IOS60 merged with IOS38
IOS223 gives you an alternative option for merged IOS in this way. It is exactly the same as IOS222 otherwise.

Now I get a black screen when starting the game (I have choosen IOS 222 and IOS 223 in the game settings).

I have tried IOS 223 with 38 merged 37 installed and set in the settings for the game. Still blank screen.

What can I do now?
Does GH5 work on a 4.0E system?

Read my guide a couple of pages back. I GUARANTEE it will work if you follow this instructions accurately. You need to use the older hermes rev 3 to install 222 as37/36.

Can you post it again please, there are a lot of little toturials here. I do need seem to find it.
And can I install the hermwes rev 3 on the rev 4 or do I have to uninstall the rev 4 first?

OK, for those having problems with GX and Guitar Hero 5.

1. Use the ISO from your region... not a patched out of region.

2. Use Hermes CIOS222 REV3 installer not the newer 4. Very important.

3. Install using 249, IOS 222 as 37/36 merged
4. Install using 249, IOS 223 as 38/36 merged (for usb instrument compatibility)

Now... this is the important bit (taken from IRC help)

QUOTE said:
NOTES:
-If your global cIOS is 249
and you set an individual game's cIOS to 222/223, it will not always work. This
is a bug in cIOS 249. On the other hand, if you set your global boot to 222 and
set an individual boot to 249, it will work fine every time.

-If you
change your global boot cIOS you need to completely exit out of the loader and
restart it in order for the change to take effect. If you do not do this you
will get a black screen. It is also necessary to delete your GXgamesettings.cfg
file from your config folder on your SD/USB to prevent any setting conflicts
since anything in GXgamesettings.cfg overrides the GXglobal.cfg
file.

-Setting your global boot to 222 (installed as 37 merge 36) and
setting your global 002fix to ANTI will result in 99% compatibility with no
glitching/stuttering on IN REGION games. For OUT OF REGION games you need to
also set the Video Mode to AUTOPATCH. The 1% non-compatibility is from the
"please insert disc" games. However, those games are fully playable by simply
inserting any dvd into your drive (I just stick a blank one in) OR by loading
those specific games with cIOS 249 rev 12 or higher.

-Make sure you
always delete the 00000001 folder from the root of your SD/USB before doing any
network installation of cIOS 222/223. If you install cIOS 222 as just 36, you
will still get the same glitches found in cIOS 249 rev 14. 37 merge 36 is
necessary.

Pasted from Mibbit ajax IRC client, on 10-Sep-2009 22:37:10 UTC

So... In GX change your GLOBAL settings to use 222 (with merged 37/36) and fix 002 bug. This WILL load GH5, if it doesnt you havent followed the instructions properly or there is a conflict in your config files.

Thank's man! I just registered just to say you that. Thank's for posting this. I've been trying to work this out for days - finally it seems to work!
PS: For The Beatles: Rock Band I must use cIOS 249 (just for the game, not globally).

This did not work for me
frown.gif
Still the game is hanging.
If I run the game from disc (with wikkey) everything works fine

I got this working, just wanted to share my setup:

Tried to install Hermes cios 222/223, but it did not give me option for 37 merged with 36. I realized this was because I had version 3.0B of Hermes' installer. Downloaded version 2.8D by changing the URL on the link to the installer and voila - was able to install as ios 37 merged with 36.

I'm at 4.1 and after all the 3.0B Hermes installing, I too found success with going back to 2.8 and installing 37 merged with 36. I'm sort of thinking all the upgrades may have somehow overwrote something needed, but it's all working now with multiple instruments.

My 2p's worth...

I'm currently on 4.1E, with CIOS Rev14.

I installed Hermes via instructions here http://gwht.wikidot.com/hermes-ios222-223 (V4)

After getting no success I ran the installer again but this time selected 223 (rather than 249) as the IOS to install on, then installed Custom IOS 223, merged with 38/37.

Selected IOS223 on USB Loader GX (uptodate) and it loaded 1st time!

Worth trying if your on PAL Wii and have a PAL backup of GH5.

EDIT: With 002 fix on!
But can you use USB mics?

Not got any to even try. Nobody would want to hear me try an sing, not even my Wii!

For everyone experiencing stuttering problems from USB, what kind of drives are you using and what kind of RPM/cache does your drive have? I played the game for a little bit and didn't experience any of the stuttering and I was wondering if that might be because I'm using a 7200 RPM drive with a 32MB cache. I'm needing to get another drive and was thinking of saving a few bucks and just getting one of the newer WD MBE 1TB drives for the Wii and using my current 1TB drive for the PC (because it has eSATA too), but if any of these stuttering problems might be caused by the 5400 RPM or smaller cache of some of the drives, I wouldn't want to do that.

So I got it to work with Soft Chip, but is there a way to get it to load with Neo Gamma (this is from a disk I'm talking) so I don't have to have 2 loaders on my wii?

I finally managed to play GH5 through loader USBLoader GX.

Installed hermes 222 and 223
Global settings:
222
002fix: anti
video: autopath

Very import last step:
In the game settings of GH5:
block IOS reload

This last step did the trick for me!

I'm having problems with multicios. I've tried searching around but don't see anyone else with the problem of not seeing install IOS 37 as IOS 232 anywhere. In fact IOS 232 never appears at all. Any ideas?

-edit- Ok well from what I can understand, I'd have to install Hermes' IOS 222/223 to see it. So instead I've tried to install IOS 37 with 37 as IOS 249, but I'm still getting errors installing like some other people even after five tries. Guess I'll just keep trying.

-edit2- *faceplant* I didn't notice that pressing left changes the third IOS #. Sigh... well GH5 is working now! Hopefully this helps other people.
