I have yet to see any pics from the latest issue of Famitsu, but rumor has it that Yggdra Unison is coming to the DS. Before you ask, no that isn't a typo. Yggdra Unison is a cell phone spin-off for Yggdra Union in Japan. You can check out some more screens of the cell phone series at the link below. Could this be coming to DS...or DSiWare?

Update! The Rumor is confirmed true. Coming December 2009 in Japan. No word on a USA release yet.

QUOTESting is giving the Japan-only mobile phone game, Yggdra Unison: Beat Out Our Obstacle, an expanded port on the Nintendo DS. However, Yggdra Unison: Seiken Buyuuden (Yggdra Unison: Holy Sword War Tales) isn’t a sequel, it’s an alternate universe scenario.

Princess Yggdra is back and this time she’ll face her adversaries in a real time simulation game. Players command units on a field map and trigger dual battles. If allied units are nearby you also get a chance for a unison attack, if you can tap the screen at the right time. Line up a group of allies to chain unison attacks and take down the Bronquian Empire.

Atlus will publish Yggdra Unison in Japan in December. While unannounced for North America chances are Atlus USA will pick this up.

I don't expect localization however, this has possibilities as a DS game, but a DSiware seems too tedious since it will have to be released in parts like FFIV: The After Years, but can be managed of course a DSiware release will pretty much makes this game Japan only.

I got this on PSP, and I must say, sometimes I don't know what's going on in terms of controls. Sometimes I take a while just executing my turn.

Really confusing stuff. 0_0

Also, wasn't the GBA and PSP version named Yggdra Union? Or is it just a change of title?

What union??! How on Earth are you supposed to pronounce that first word?

Well I assume it's similar to the pronunciation of Yggdrasil. I think the y is an EE sound or an i sound? Either way, it's close enough for me.

Played the GBA game partly through and thought it was a good game, though I got stuck. Actually, the first time I played, I didn't understand a thing, till I figured out how the union system for females and male characters worked.

Hopefully it gets ported to the U.S soon after Japan's release, I've been waiting for a new game to play on my dusty DS.
Well Atlus might do it since they did the first game, right? Well I'm not sure on how fast or how soon it'll get localized here in the US though. They released it same year for the Yggdra Union. It also took them a year for Knights in the Nightmare and Riviera: The Promised Land, which is the same saga developed by the same studio (Sting) and localized by Atlus.
