I will not buy it if it is not compatible with the R4. I'm just wondering because of this topic: R4 Completely Illegal in Japan

If this is so, won't it mean that they may make it incompatible with the DSi?

Also, I'm hoping it comes out in Ice Blue!^^

I also hope that the Wi-Fi function is more compatible with different router types now, eg. WPA, etc.

The R4 won't work if you have the original maybe there's already a fake R4 that's compatible R4i not sure though.
But the Dsi is compatible with WPA but only with the dsi related features and software. So WPA still won't work with old ds games they would still use wep key.Kinda sucks

Hey Dr.Stiles, why R4? Did you buy it a long time ago, and want to use it for the dsi? it won't work.

I mean, there's the Acekard DSi, which is only about 17 bucks. Get that with the DSi, if you ever plan on purchasing one.

R4 is dead, all current R4s are fakes; there is no reason to get an R4i whatsoever except because you don't know any better, and that's a shitty reason to do anything. Do some research before you go buying anything. It's also entirely possible that the currently working flash cards will not work with the US release of the DSi, or any release if Nintendo updates the firmware with new flash card detection methods.

EDIT: And you're making Australians look bad. Quit doing that.

This, pretty much.

Yes, I did buy it a long time ago. :/

Hmm... According to this article: http://exophase.com/ds/nintendo-dsi-wpa-ca...ftware-8327.htm

WPA Wi-Fi will not work on older games. Will Pokemon Platinum be included... Because I want Pokemon Platinum for its Wi-Fi capabilities. Now knowing that the DSi has WPA compability, it would be nice to now that Pokemon Platinum is also compatible.

And to the mean fellow Australian, I'm asking a question which I do not think, has been asked before. YOU'RE making Australian's look bad by flaming over something so trivial.

Hasn't been asked before? Hasn't fucking been asked before?! Maybe if you had actually looked at the board before making this topic, you might have noticed that it's abundantly obvious that the R4 is dead and no longer recommended for any reason. I am the saviour of all Australians. I am the only decent one on the whole Internet. If you don't like it, get better.

As far as I know, all DS game released prior to the DSi (with few exceptions being those released just prior to the DSI) will use None/WEP for the WiFi protection. Anything released after SHOULD use WPA, though it's possible that it will only be for "DSi compatible" games.

If you sent all the convicts to an island and left them there for a hundred years, what would they say?

All DS games will use the older style wifi, it's only in DSi mode it's able to use the newer methods. In DS mode it has no access to any of the enhanced DSi features. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what I read. Hopefully Narin will read this thread, he's the man with the tech knowledge!
